McKenna has wanted Broja since the start of the summer, even before the Broadhead & Hirst injuries, when he thought that Philogene would be coming. Since then, and post Delap's arrival, there have still been very credible reports of us putting in an offer (enquiring at least) for Odobert, before Spurs managed to nick him, so it would seem left sided attacker is still an area we are looking to fill.
McKenna likes to change the entire front 4 in the 2nd half, so even when all are fully fit, we will be playing 2 out of Broja, Hirst & Delap up top in every game. Yes we are signing players with versatility, & they can cover 2 or 3 of the forward roles, but ideally we would hope to have each one playing in their strongest positions, which probably means that Hutchinson is on the right with Burns to come on, Szmodics in the centre with Chaplin to come on, & a new signing on the left with Broadhead to come on.
Of course we'll adjust the formation at times, look to swap the wide players, Delap can play on the right, Hutchinson may ultimately be best in the middle & Szmodocs can cover the left side, but we need 2 'quality' players for every position (i.e. 8 for the front 4) and then another 2 or 3 to cope with injuries & suspensions.
So who will our new lleft sided signing be, Jack Clarke?
He certainly has the talent to play in the Premier League, with skill, balance, passing & shooting, but will he work as hard, defensively as Philogene or Odobert would? Or indeed as Hutchinson & Burns do on the other side (even Johnson when deployed as RWB)?
We saw on Saturday what is required at this level, our full backs need help; defending has to be from the front when you're up against opposing full backs like Alexander-Arnold & Robinson. We won't have them every week, but every side in the Premier League can hurt you in seconds, so we can't be carrying passengers. Maybe Clarke can step up under McKenna & be developed/coached the way Omari was; if so he could be another great signing. | | | |

Absolutely need a left sided player who is an adept dribbler.
Atm only Hutchinson has the ability to beat players off the dribble, go with ways, and take them on 1v1. Burn sis slightly different.
Need someone like Jack Clarke, hope its him, but someone with that profile. |  |
