Thinking, Ahead 14:59 - Nov 16 with 2848 views | cressi | Fotis Ioannidis could we buy in January, I don't believe Delap will go anywhere in January but if the club get a ridiculous offer in the summer we will have a replacement in the building. Also if we wait till clubs see us with a large amount of money will they not hold us to ransom for more zeros on future deals.
Thinking, Ahead on 15:01 - Nov 16 with 2825 views | Zx1988 | I believe it's possible, but it'll all depend on price. The Latte Lath comments this week show that there's still a decent amount in the kitty for the right player, but will we want to pay inflated January prices for him, when £27m didn't appear to be enough in the summer?

Thinking, Ahead on 15:14 - Nov 16 with 2733 views | wkj | It also depends on what he wants to do. He never seemed all that interested in coming to town and Im not sure that he'd change his outlook if were in a tight relegation scrap. If we can get a couple of wins (I know... lofty hopes) then maybe it might better our chances - if we still want him.

You come in, in January as third choice initially and have to settle you family into a new country etc I think it's also a pretty tricky one as Ashton wont have left much PSR headroom and as a result we are probably in loan to buy territory. Will be someone from a much lesser league for £5M or so or a Prem youngster wont it?
Thinking, Ahead on 15:36 - Nov 16 with 2647 views | LegendofthePhoenix | Striker valuations seem to change like the wind. In the summer, I'd have happily seen Ipswich pay £25+M for Ioannidis. And I thought we had overpaid at £15M for Delap. 4 months later, Ioannidis has barely scored in the Greek league, and Delap at age 21 has banged in 6 in the Premier League. I just daren't think what Delap must be worth now, but I doubt we'd let him go for south of £70M. Ioannidis - probably needs a change of club and I would guess his value has dropped by a good £5M. Just shows what McKenna and his staff can do with players, and that it's best to just trust that they know what they are doing far more than us fans. I would be interested to see what McKenna could do with the Greek lad though. Edit: Ioannidis wanted a move to Sporting in the summer, but now Amorim has moved to Utd, I wonder if that tempers his desire to go there? [Post edited 16 Nov 2024 15:39]

Maybe but we have to have a 3rd striker capable of making a difference who we want here next season or we may as well keep Al Hamadi or bought Moore we would not have gone for Broja if the club thought we were OK. Yes Delap has exceeded all or expectations but you can never stand still..

I don't think this will happen anymore, every club knows that those in the PL are minted so always hang on for top dollar regardless of their recent transfer dealings.

His club have only scored 10 in 11 games so as somebody said his value may have dropped has scored 5 in last 7 International dames .

Thinking, Ahead on 12:13 - Nov 17 with 1628 views | Vegtablue | Our Giannis Chorianopoulos, footy journalist and preferred choice of the big Greek clubs for revealing transfer news, has revealed that Fotis will sign another contract extension on Jan 1st. Neither party blinked much to the various summer offers around £23m from bottom-third PL clubs, so my assumption is nothing has changed there to be honest. Was our £20m bid for Latte Lath the consequence of deadline day time pressures, or had we identified him as next on the list after Broja? I think he's a much more realistic target if we still want him.

someone above is suggesting Middlesbrough rejected £27 million from us which seems a bit high but on the flipside, not having a replacement seems a fairly reasonable reason for rejecting that

Phil mentioned £20m but either/or is a lot in my book! And yeah very reasonable, though how it played out suggests they'd be interested in speaking to us again in January (just not Jan 31st!).
