I would not begrudge him a move that meant a final pay day for him or his family or regular football (which looks unlikely with us).

He's been brilliant.

And our priority business this summer was tying down O’Shea. That was very much with a view to him taking over the mantle from Morsy imo. No player lasts forever or is irreplaceable. When Morsy does go though, he’ll obviously leave as a leg-end. He’s been immense. But maybe I’m being hasty and he’ll have another year here.

What im saying is you need leaders in the middle of the park and it's the one area we need to add to not be replacing ,

I dont think we will from the start of the season, give the new players the chance to get up to speed. But I can see him leaving in the Jan window as I think by that point he will be starting on the bench.

Agreed that the new guy is likely his replacement. Which is why I think there has to be another midfielder come in. Someone like the mexican guy sounds ideal.

If it’s his desire to pursue a move, then I am ok with it.

If he’s happy to remain, we have to keep him, any minimal fee would be outweighed by his contribution - he’s so valuable in every aspect with both his ability and his leadership - would be a massive void to fill.

Ideal world he remains 1 more year, leads us back to the PL and sails off to the Middle East for one final huge contract - leaving an eternal legend.

It sounds like the Mexican is out of our league, but we certainly need at least 1 more in there, 2 if Sam goes.
