Available for around £20m. Would soften the blow of losing Omari if he were to go.

Different sort of player but he's class so would happily have him here. Would maybe want more of a 10 on loan from a PL side too to give us depth there if possible. Chappers and Szmodics are good but think it's an area where we could benefit from a more dynamic option too. Hutch gives us that currently.

There's no way he comes here - as much as I rate him, and would love it. I posted this yesterday in another thread about us going after Doak.

Who we got lined up if broady and omari go? by SuffolkPunchFC 6 Aug 22:45
They’ve already indicated that they intend to sell this Window. They rejected £15/16M last window (although I don’t think pushing higher than that would be an issue for us), BUT West Ham, Wolves, Palace, Forest, Everton, Bournemouth, Brentford and PSV have all been reported as making overtures. Palace did have a bid turned down in January.

With so much higher tier interest, I just don’t see us being at the races.

Szmodics scored about 7,350 goals from the 10 position. How much more do you want?
Seriously though, I think Szmodics and Chaplin are plenty good enough for our 10 position. Would rather we spent the money on another CM.

Thought it was 7,351, but I stand corrected.

Szmodics' role that season was a bit different, he was playing as more of a false 9 with bigger wide forwards either side of him. He wasn't really playing in behind a striker in the way that we play. I think he can play as a 10 effectively for us, but don't expect quite such a big goal return as he got at Blackburn. I'm also not fully sold on his link up play but he does give us something different in there. I still love Chappers in that role too but he's been short of minutes since promotion.

He would be excellent but almost certainly out of reach. Leeds, Everton and Forest have been linked at various points this summer.

All his goals looked really similar for Blackburn, different role as you say.

True, but we have a manager who's improved pretty much every player he's coached and he would be almost guaranteed minutes, which is what he needs now.

If Forest get Omari and Everton get Dibling I think they'll be out of the running.

Making those runs in behind, sometimes from a slightly withdrawn starting position. We saw glimpses of his goal threat last season though even playing a slightly different role here. Be interesting to see him and Hirst linking up, but yeah, it's going to be different to what he was doing at Blackburn for sure.

His goal at City was the kind of goal he scored a lot for Blackburn, I think him and Hirst had a decent first half together at Brentford if memory serves, although he missed a chance to put us 3 up as well.

That was one of many sliding doors moments. We'd been excellent that half, 2-0 up, Szmodics one v one in a position you'd back him to score, he misses and it's 2-2 10 mins later. That City goal was very much like his Blackburn goals, coming from deep and running behind in the inside channels. I think he'll give us a real threat on the break, especially away from home.

I don’t think we will see the best of Sammy here. KM just doesn’t play the type of role he likes. I do wonder why we signed him sometimes because he is never going to rip this league up in how he is being asked to play with Town.
