Southampton are only 3 points behind us now and they are winning all their matches. We can't afford to slip up too much.

Southampton are showing what a year 1 parachute club can do at this level. Luckily they got their appointment so wrong in the summer but they’ll run us close now.

I think 2 wins from 5 and not losing to them, still might just do it.

Swansea A on short rest could be their hardest game left, so will watch that with interest Saturday.

Or maybe we just need to win both our home games and hope that we can find a win at Charlton or WBA. Either way it just got a lot harder. Pompey 1 win at 7 at home, ugh.

Southampton have two tough games coming up at Swansea and home to Bristol City (unbeaten and one conceded under Hodgson).

We simply have to win both home games and pick up at least three points on the road. If we do that I think we'll be ok. It might be pretty damn tight but we should be ok...

Strangely we probably needed to get a defeat out of our system. Championship under mckenna only once have we lost 2 games on the spin and a defeat usually provokes a reaction and a much improved next few games. Having said that really need 7 points from next 3 as others have mentioned....

If we get 7 from the next 3, we'll:
- Have the opportunity to win and definitely clinch 2nd in Southampton.
- Possibly be able to draw in Southampton and clinch 2nd if Millwall have failed to keep up
- Would be able lose to Southampton and still have it in our hands for the final day, no matter any other teams results.

I mean, if we draw Sunday, we'll still be 2nd. We'll still have at least a point lead over Southampton. So far ahead of Millwall on GD that it might as well be a point lead over them. Plus still have a game in hand against both.

A win would obviously be fantastic as it would maintain our effective 3 point leads over Soton and Millwall no matter what and give them 25% less games in which to catch us.
