Spot on.

And be under no illusions, Towen are on the exact same trajectory with our management seemingly disinterested in engaging with Blue Order but wholly focused on the light shows/ hospitality opportunities / corporate bollox.

Still nothing on safe standing from Ashton whilst he bangs on about elite performance at every opportunity. We are becoming a club detached from traditional football much like the ones described in the post.

Depressing to be honest but with owners who are basically venture capitalists out to maximise their investment with zero understanding of footballs traditions we need to be vocal imho in expressing our views because relying on Ashton to do right by us is unlikely to result in anything more than more of the same.

Couldn't agree more.
I'd add to that the "fans" who leave their seats at around 40 minutes in to get to the bar, as its more about drinking beer and scoffing pies than supporting your team. Just kills the atmosphere when dozens of people are shuffling along in front of the ones who want to watch and support the team. You can only dilute the vocal support so far before it fades into sporadic clusters that fizzle out.

Was thinking the other day you see the “ fire canons” at a lot of games now but if they one day weren’t there there’s not one fan - not one - who would say they wished they could see fire pre-game. Which begs the question why the fk do clubs persist with it. There’s a cost involved.. could be an instant saving binning it.

And while it doesn’t affect me directly, whenever I hear the Portman Rd announcer doing his exaggerated “bluuuere army” chants a little part of me dies inside. It all seems so misguided and unnecessary.

People going to the bar early to get a beer or pie early isn't a big issue. My group take it in turns to go and place the order, if anything we're superfans as we're not only supporting the club financially but by only sending one to the bar early, the rest are still supporting the team.

Yep, 100%.

Not sure what can be done about it. As soon as one team chases an income stream the rest follow.

Maybe in 20-30 years teams will abandon their stadiums for a state of the art arena with 1000 cameras for VAR and a choice of 20 virtual seats to watch with your VR headset.

Robots and AI doing 90% of jobs and the rest of us on UBI. No two games in the league kicking off at the same time as they are staggered for maximum exposure. Massive deals with Budweiser and Doritos as they look to increase sales to viewers at home.

Sky introducing the Full Kit W@nker Superfan package where Tarquin from Weybridge can have a virtual ST at his favourite eight Premier League clubs with a replica shirt for all of them. Built in interactive social media because who doesn't want to see what BigJohn1992 from Aberdeen thinks of the opening 10 minutes of Arsenal vs Chelsea? 'Support both teems, hope itz draw lmfao'.

Yep, completely agree.

The club needed rescuing and in many ways Gamechanger have been excellent but there was and still is always that uneasiness about the ultimate aim. American sports entertainment.

Blue Action deserve better.

Ashton going on about retail sales and market share and all the rest of it.

I agree about speaking out.

I think the future English football is in the balance at the moment. Which way are we going to go?

Even watching on tele its so cringe when that fella starts screaming.

BTW.. can I ask those who go.

Jeremiah brown song. Does it kill the atmosphere as much as it comes across on television?

Before the game the weird mix of that and hey jude just seems a bit pants and the jey jude doesnt sound as loud now.

But after the game it comes on and it just sounds really pants.

Does it feel different in the stands?

Yep. There's no natural build up to games now at all. Ear splitting volume from PA, everyone gawping at mine numbing graphics on big screen, announcer being cheesy and fire cannons going off.

'YOUR manager, Super KM'. WE KNOW HE'S OUR MANAGER.

I reckon F1 will be the model, where the big clubs have cities bid to host fixtures as they tour the world playing in front of 100k crowds with all the revenues that brings.

Maybe first and last home games still in Manchester, Liverpool, London but when you're into maximising income why wouldn't you go that route?

The Prem already has majority foreign ownership so what's to stop them if that's the route they want?

It might take a while, but think back to when Sky first out on a Monday night game. One game a weekend on TV is a long way from.where we are now...

One person fair enough but the mass exodus before HT and before FT is very noticeable.

I absolutely loathe the pre match build up for our games. The bloke on the mic is irritating beyond belief, the fire cannons, smoke machines is just ridiculous.

Let's cut all the loud music and have the fans make some noise and get rid of Hey Jude as well please.

One of me earliest memories of PR in early 90s is being outside the ground hearing the sound of chanting from inside the ground ahead of kick off. When you're that age it all seems incredible, like magic. You're wondering where the sound is coming from. And all totally organic.

Now it's effectively like being bombarded with cinema type commercials from a huge screen.

I'm sure there are serious people on here who could come up with ideas and/or a playlist that could enhance the pre-match experience which isn't a combination of hospital radio, little league baseball and an 18-30 holiday.

If you want an atmosphere you need to get serious. Some ideas....

Reintroduce standing behind the goals.
Put away fans close to (or in).the North
Move blue action to behind a goal
Have an area where its first come, first served - so groups can sit with their mates.
Fck off the lights/flame throwers etc.

no there are people who like to think they could, but their playlist and ideas wouldnt be any better than a random spotify playlist and a bunch of warmed up ideas that most of us have already seen before.

tbh if it bugs people so much stay in the bars till kick off. better still stay at home and be grumpy miserable so and sos instead.
