It does feel like we're down the list with him. We could do worse - he covers more than one position, had a decent season last time out and in his prime. We need someone and he'll improve the squad.

We need versatility and from what I’ve read it looks like he’d bring that if he does sign for us, so I’d prefer him to TA.

It’s infuriating isn’t it. These people have no concept of goal scorers in the premier league - only six players scored 15 plus goals last season, but unless we sign someone capable of that then the player is useless.

Depends on how you are judging the success of a player in that position.

As I have explained, in depth, before. A lone striker role in a KM or GON lineup is more than a simple return in terms of goals. Yes, that is factor and an important one but it's about setting the press, link up play, holding up the ball, assists etc.

There are very, very few forwards that are judged solely on goals scored, in fact, I can think of only one in the Prem and that is Haaland.

Maybe our list included Espí who went to Madrid, Delap to Forest for 50 million, Gabriel Jesus who went to Barca, Abraham who's on the bench for Villa after selling Watkins. They've all been linked and I have no idea if there was serious interest but Flemming is not the panic signing some are insinuating.

Personally, I had very little idea as it took a while to even find out the level at which our transfer business was happening. Doubly so when we started plundering overseas leagues of which I know little.
