Reading Linked With Rhodes
Reading Linked With Rhodes
Monday, 16th Nov 2009 08:52

Championship Reading are interested in signing former Town striker Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield, according to a tabloid report this morning. Rhodes has scored 13 goals since joining the Terriers in the summer.

The report claims the Royals will offer £600,000 for Rhodes, which it wrongly claims is double the fee Huddersfield paid the Blues for the 19-year-old.

The Yorkshire club actually paid an initial £850,000 for Rhodes with various top-ups based on appearances and a sell-on also involved in the deal.

Who gives a flying funk about Rhodes!!? The lad was made an offer and he decided to drop down a division instead of playing for us. As far asi'm concerned good ridance. You don't want to wear a blue shirt, you don't deserve recognition.

Nearly a million quid for someone with bags of reserve team football goals and a few in the second division...yes please!

Everyone has a price, it was up to Rhodes whether to stay or go and he opted out. See ya! End of.

And Surco, hasn't Keane already proved himself at Championship level? Here's hoping we smash Sheff Wednesday off the park Saturday, just so it'll quieten that mouth of CGS's up for a week...or is that wishful thinking!?

Keanish if you read it properly i said proved himself at Ipswich ,but like most of the Keane arguments you only read what you want . As for proving himself at Championship level he did very well taking the favourites to win the league up spending more money than any other club in the division , and all the "they were bottom when he took over" they had only played 4 games of the season and the league leaders were only on 9 points .
And what are you wishful thinking shutting up CGS or us winning !!

Funny if he is as good as many believe / hope / wish, then why is it Reading and not Hull, Wolves or even Man Utd in for him?

I would rather we lose so Keane gets the sack.

Thoughts please

It's a sad state of affairs when "supporting a football club" absolutely has to mean "agreeing with every single decision made by every single manager ever" (at least until after they're sacked, in which case everything becomes their fault and the new guy will definitely sort it all out)

Saying it was a poor decision to sell Rhodes does NOT automatically mean you hate Keane and it CERTAINLY doesn't make you less of a town fan who needs to "stop moaning and go look up what 'support' means" (seriously, am I the only one who's absolutely sick to death of that phrase appearing on this site? I propose an instant non-negotiable ban for anyone using it in a non-satiracal manner)

The fact is that no matter what anyone else says Rhodes was not given a fair chance. He only ever played 45 minutes on ONE occasion (coincidently also scoring on that same occasion) and made most of his appearacnes as a last-ten-minute sub after the result was already a forgone conclusion and he couldn't possibly make an impact.

He was banging them in for fun during pre-season this summer and was making all the right noises about breaking into the first team and how it would be a dream to score in front of the north stand regularly. The only reason he would have chosen to leave is if it was made abundantly clear that he would not get a chance here. Keane let him go and bought Priskin for twice the price believing that he could solve the problem by chucking money at it rather than using the resources available to him. End of.

I'm getting bored of hearing about Rhodes ..... he's gone! I am still sore about Muhren going to Man Utd in 1983 or whenever it was, but Christ it happened and all the wailing in the world won't bring him back!

Let's draw a line, and look forward. Not back.

Your right Dob's but shenever a story is written there will always be comments, where there will be comments there will be disagreements and where there is diasgreements there will be arguments and where there is argumentst there will be CGS

Callums you are a complete idiot and an embarrasment to all Town fans. Wanting Town to lose just cause Keane is in charge is a complete joke. Even if Afolf Hitler was in charge of ITFC I would always want them to win

VemundBrekkeSkard

Totally and utterly agree 100%. You hit the nail on the head, never given the opportunity after being praised during the summer. I'm not pro or anti keane but what the way the whole rhodes thing was handled really gets to me. Especially when those on here just say "never scored in this league" etc.

This club has a history of selling on the cheap and buying total and utter pants to replace them, especially the last 15 years (le pen, fish & skard to name just a few).

Just because callum expresses his views vividly doesn't mean he hasn't got some very good points,
Losing 3 points on sat would be a fair price to pay to lose Keane

Do you really think so, Lilian? So what happens in the few weeks without a manager (under a 'caretaker'), when the team is in turmoil and we fail to get many points at all? And then comes the January transfer window and a new manager comes in and he hasn't had time to assess the squad and work out his transfer targets? Then we are into the last part of the season and its goodnight Vienna .....

5 games unbeaten, only 2 defeats in 10 ... we are moving in the right direction (albeit slowly) - changing manager now would jeopardise all that. Assuming you even go to the games you would see how the team has improved since the start of the season. Norris is due back soon and even some of you hardened Keane-haters have said that is good for the team. Yet you still want us to lose?!??

Fine, you hate Keano and that's your opinion. But surely wishing your team to lose just to prove a point and put us further in the klaartz is just plain wrong. So what happens if we win? Do you then want us to lose the next game? Or the next few after that? Or how about we win 2 or 3 on the bounce .... what will you do then? Maybe quit your bleating and start supporting hopefully!
