Quiet Start to Deadline Day
Quiet Start to Deadline Day
Thursday, 26th Nov 2009 08:50

The final day on which Football League clubs can sign players on emergency loans has got off to a quiet start on the Town front with a claim the Blues and Middlesbrough are chasing £2 million-rated Hearts left-back Lee Wallace the only link in this morning’s tabloids. Clubs have until 5pm today to add to their squads.

Wallace, who Town couldn’t sign until January when the transfer window opens in any case as he currently plays in a foreign league, was previously mentioned in connection with a switch to Portman Road earlier in the month, although Roy Keane subsequently dismissed the claim as nothing more than “speculation”.

Keane has said he is targeting a striker and another player before today’s deadline. At Tuesday’s AGM he revealed that the frontman he is after is currently playing for a club outside the Premier League.

Yesterday, sources in Cumbria reported that Carlisle had turned down a Town bid to sign former Leeds and Ireland defender Ian Harte.

PAulc I suspect you are being extremely hard on Phil and Gav, They are excerising the right to free speech which is fundemental to our society. The fact that it's speculation is well tough on us the reader.

TWTD has always stated it is not a mouth piece for any view point or the club.

Anyway the speculation keeps the blood pressure medicine poeple in business so maybe we shuld all buy shares in those companies?

Putting reports (i.e. speculation) on the site is fine - as long as people don't interpret them as facts and then get upset when they turn out to be....

...just reports.

None of us have a clue - I just hope it is Jimmy Robertson and Frank Clarke, they turned our season round once before, maybe they can do it again !

Paul c- So, you are basically saying you are only interested in information on ITFC if it has come directly from the club, or a club source?

You are in for a quiet time.

um lets see,we cant attract any half decent players, this thing of keane just clicking his fingers and the players role in is bull. so basicaly at 17 hours,we be lucky to fill in the vacant tea ladies job,let alone a half decent player ,whos not a reject ,or under 30,mind you i hear doris the old tea lady was fast on her pins, stead out, doris in!

It's funny what some people think of as big money; I think all Roy's signings come to less that Town got for Richard Wright about 10 years ago.

The so called big names we sign never work out for us anyway, unless we are willing to spend a lot of money on a striker (which we already did with Priskin)

Legend added 13:42 - Nov 26
Well Keane has had months to sort our striker problem out and now he has only a few hours left and what is he doing? looking at left backs!...............He will bring in nobody, wait and see!

nthstd - I'm not singling out Phil & Gav and don't geniunely have a bad word to say about them, the zine or the site. I just get very frustrated at the amount of time i have wasted over the years reading about players that 'turned us down/we just missed out on/ etc etc - it's all irrelevent!

Olimar - A quiet time suits me just fine, if that also stops all the moaning!
