Trotter to Join Millwall
Trotter to Join Millwall
Wednesday, 2nd Jun 2010 14:33

Midfielder Liam Trotter has agreed to join newly-promoted Millwall on a two-year deal. The 21-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of June, spent the second half of the season on loan at the Den, having previously been with the south London club on a similar basis in 2006.

Ipswich-born Trotter, who joined the Blues’ academy from Bury Town’s youth set-up, said: "I'm very excited and extremely happy to be a Millwall. It's great to be playing regularly and winning games, and I'm confident that we can continue to be successful in the Championship.

”We have a very well organised and disciplined squad here. I'm sure we will improve and I believe we are capable of doing more than just hold our own at the higher level."

Town had offered the central midfielder a one-year contract and will be entitled to compensation from the Lions.

Trotter, who was in Town’s 2005 FA Youth Cup-winning side, made 18 starts and eight sub appearances for the Blues, scoring two goals.

... and people still find a reason to find a reason to moan or post a snide comment! Unbelievable.

Anyway - this is good all round. Well done Roy for offering him a contract so we can cash in (albeit I suspect a small fee). This is a good move for Trotter as unfortuantely not good enough.

I saw him at Leicester Square Tube the other day...it wasn't very interesting and worth just as much of a mention as as him joining Millwall. *Yawn* - where are our summer signings? Come on Chops, sign-up....

Good luck Liam. Will be bonus if we do get any cash for him. He just didn't seem to quite be good enough for where everyone wants the club to go unfortunately

will be a fair to good player in the future but not quick enough with or without the ball.

One of the best players on Wembley turf against Swindon. I have a sneaking feeling he will come back to haunt us. At 21 he will develop to a good Championchip player as well. Good luck, well and wisely done,Liam!

He reminds me some what of Tom Huddleston. Think he is a very good player. wouldnt of complained if we'd of kept he, although im not too bothered that he has left.

I'll drive you to the Isle of Dogs myself even if we get 4 hour queues in the city

I think its a good move. Clearly has no passion for the club, I really put him in the class of Kevin Lisbie, chases the pound. No loyalty.

Totally agree with the earlier comment by Borge - I've seen Liam play a couple of times whilst on loan and he was very effective at breaking up play and simple distribution. He is not a spectacular player but I suspect he'll turn out to be a real asset to Millwall.
