McCormack Set for Hull
McCormack Set for Hull
Tuesday, 17th Aug 2010 08:54

Town target Ross McCormack looks set to join Hull City from Cardiff City in a swap deal which will see Daniel Cousin move in the opposite direction. McCormack was part of a proposed swap with the Blues which would have seen Jon Stead switch to the Welsh side.

Over the weekend boss Roy Keane suggested the Town deal was unlikely to go through, despite McCormack having been at the club for talks early last week.

Stead is interesting a number of other clubs with Bristol City, with whom he held talks earlier in the summer, believed to be amongst them.

TigerTiger... Get over yourself.

Hull are not a bigger club, they have simply been in the Premier League more recently.

I hope you have managed to escape from Hull?.... Horrible place!!

I know it's unlikely but I wish Keane would have a change of heart on Stead now. He works hard, goal scoring record is decent (compare him to Priskin, Pablo, etc!) and is more than capable of being one of our team of 4 strikers.

I know a few bluebird fans and I think Mt McCormack may have some Big Ego issues - not to mention drink ones too! The opinion being that he is red hot but when Dave Jones put Chops upfront and him on the wing he went off the rails and was less than co-operative with training etc. This could only end in tears with Keano's expectations being so (rightly so) high! Balls to McCormack if he chosses 'DULL' but we do need others in!

to be frank. i dont think Keane wants to get rid of Stead, its prob to do with his high wages. The club has prob put a cap on it and stead does not fit into our new wage structure. reading between the line Keane thinks highly of stead, praises up oftern enough.

dej2210 not sure i totally agree afterall he sold him from Sunderland too - with the reason 'he couldnt hold him back' personally just think for one reason or anotother stead doesnt float Keanes boat! If he wants to stay so much, and no one will pay a high enough wage for him why not offer a longer deal on new terms to get him to stay - less than he is on now but more than others are offering??

Why would he go to Hull? They are terrible. I went there once, and thinking back to it sends a shiver down my spine.

Hope there is no truth in this, he would be a good replacement for Walters.

Sources from Cardiff suggest that Bellamy might not end up at his home town club, with the likes of Celtic, Fulham and Tottenham also interested, but that McCormack is poised to leave this month, with Town leading the chase. EADT today!

agree lunatic38. Losing a game never makes me angry, it is when they do not give 100% that does.

Bellamy has chosen Cardiff according to sky on a loan deal. Surely that means Cardiff have to free up some wages..... chopra??!!!!!

I am surprised that no one has said that he can ;GO TO HULL FOR ALL I CARE!

The problem is, we were offering big wages like the Hull, at the start, you have the lee Martins, Carlos Edwards, Priskin, Leadbitter or prob on 10,000 + Now Evans seems to be trying to balance the books?

Fair play to Cardiff.... great signing re Bellamy, will be by far and away the leagues best player. Could take his pick of about 15 premiership clubs!!

Imagine if Dyer came back to us on loan, and multiply that by 10!!

My point was obviously not well put so I'll try again!

We need a twenty goal a season striker, whoever that may be. Everybody else wants one of those as well but that sort of quality is thin on the ground and costs. Its a classic case of supply and demand.

I'm not advocating unfettered spending - we have been down that route as well and look where it got us. I am saying there are times where if you are going to get what you need you have to pay the going rate. I dont suppose Marcus Stewarts wages were cheap at the time but that was one signing that became priceless.

Hadleigh - McCormack is no more guaranteed to get 20 goals than Scotland is, and we have him lined up.

We also have a c.£5-6m striker due back from injury in 4 weeks! Mr Wickham!!

Also Marcus Stewart was THE primary striker in the division at the time of signing, with a proven track record of scoring goals season on season. More akin to a Chopra signing.

Hull are offerring him the pay he wants and that helps Cardiff by replacing him with cheaper option. I agree that we neeed to improve on what we have not sacrifice for a player who's only here for the ££££. i'm still hoping that this will go in our favour as Chopra/Whittingham will be back on especially as we need midfield cover now.

is this really true with hull signing Simpson from Arsenal? think its all specuation and we need to wait till things are confirmed either way for all these moves... lots of hot air and no action.

Everyone knows that Hull are crap. However, they are are a richer club than we are due to their parachute payments. How the mighty have fallen !!!!

Maybe the salary is not the only reason why players are not joining our club... Maybe they don't want to play under Keane's management...

A very valid point Finnishblue. There have been many fairly well publicised fallings out since keane has been here. Recently Walters and Pablo, plus previously d wright, stead, Macauley, thatcher, and I'm sure more that I can't remember. Plus pre Ipswich stories pointing to keane being a bit of a mentalist. All of which may make a potential player think twice.
