Keane Leaves Town
Keane Leaves Town
Thursday, 6th Jan 2011 22:52

TWTD understands that Town manager Roy Keane has parted company with the club. The Blues boss has been under pressure with Town having dropped to 19th in the Championship despite a promising start to the season which saw them hit second.

Keane, whose contract was due to end in June, joined the Blues in April 2009 after Jim Magilton’s sacking and despite winning his first two games in charge at the end of the 2008/09 season never threatened to repeat his success at Sunderland.

The end looked to have been on the cards for some weeks now with Marcus Evans apparently unwilling to commit funds for transfers and Keane having exchanged angry words and gestures with fans after Monday’s 1-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest.

Earlier today, Paddy Power stopped betting on the identity of Keane’s likely successor with former Wigan, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby boss Paul Jewell’s odds having been cut from 20/1 to 6/5.

Former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton and ex-Charlton boss Alan Curbishley have both previously been linked with the Blues.

Still nothing on SSN, they tend to be very good and quick on this stuff, especially when the rumour has been doing the rounds for a couple hours like this one has. I'm not doubting Phil but I won't believe anything till its on the official website.

Congratulations to all the miserable moaners. you've got your way and now ITFC will be thrown to the dogs. The true culprits are the pathetic players at the club that have had no guts or brains, and can't motivate themselves to play with passion for Ipswich. Our squad is as reasonble as most other squads in this division the difference is the spineless displays week in week out. Capitulation is the motto of our team. Good luck Roy Keane at a proper football club with a proper owner with real cash and supporters whoose sole pastime isn't moaning and whinging for 90 mins on a Saturday.

For those who still have a fascination about RK, do you think Sunderland miss him? look how many players are in their team he signed?

One thing is for sure that whoever we get we all need to get behind him to get out of this mess.

Good riddance. It will take us at least 5 years to recover from his tenure. Now, let's work on getting rid of the Evans Group too.

Great news, long overdue but who will take over for the trip to Chelsea?

I assume Loughlan will follow his master out the door....

So we're left with no midfielders and no coaches.......!

If it's true then I would just like to thank Keane for all his attempts to improve us and get us promoted, obviously it didn't work out for him, at times he didn't deserve the abuse he got from the so called 'supporters', some of his decisions were strange, letting Rhodes go, letting D Wright go then moan that we haven't got a right back, getting rid of Stead, not playing Priskin, not giving enough minutes to Townsend the list goes on. I would just like to wish him the very best
in the future, just hoping that we can get an experienced manager in to lead us away from the threat of relegation, now for a win against Chelsea :)

Please remember be careful what you wish for as for paul jewell well he can feckin do one, the problem i'm afraid to say is we dont pay the wages to get the players needed for promotion and the ambition from the owners is not what i expect if they expect promotion!!! Ipswich town we were better off with no money F.C !!!

Its not the fans who have got him the sack given the lack of stick he has had at PR and its not the fans who will choose the next boss.

As in any job,if you fail you can only blame yourself. Had he played a settle side and formed partnerships across the pitch we wouldn't be in this mess and would have had a chance.

Look at the money he spent and the players he brought in.

Phil's much too boringly responsible & professional to ever write a news report that isn't soundly based in fact (sorry Phil ;-))) and in fact hasn't got anything wrong in the 10-12 years the site's been going, as far as I'm aware, so you can believe it folks.

As for those saying 'be careful what you wish for' etc etc etc - nobody, but NOBODY could possibly do any worse in the job than has RK - done nothing but drag us downwards in every way ever since he arrived - not just the results, appalling style(less) play on the pitch, but the dismantling of our scouting system, booting out of the exemplary Brian Klug from the academy, incompetence in bringing and then settling in new signings, dissing our fans etc etc etc etc. And he showed us not one glimmer of a hint of a chance that things might improve.

We aren't a sacking club, but NOT sacking this particularly inept, incompetent manager was putting us in extremely serious trouble and rendering us a laughing stock - simply had to go, no alternative. And of course a replacement was (as I said weeks ago) being lined up weeks ago.
