Keane Leaves Town
Keane Leaves Town
Thursday, 6th Jan 2011 22:52

TWTD understands that Town manager Roy Keane has parted company with the club. The Blues boss has been under pressure with Town having dropped to 19th in the Championship despite a promising start to the season which saw them hit second.

Keane, whose contract was due to end in June, joined the Blues in April 2009 after Jim Magilton’s sacking and despite winning his first two games in charge at the end of the 2008/09 season never threatened to repeat his success at Sunderland.

The end looked to have been on the cards for some weeks now with Marcus Evans apparently unwilling to commit funds for transfers and Keane having exchanged angry words and gestures with fans after Monday’s 1-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest.

Earlier today, Paddy Power stopped betting on the identity of Keane’s likely successor with former Wigan, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby boss Paul Jewell’s odds having been cut from 20/1 to 6/5.

Former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton and ex-Charlton boss Alan Curbishley have both previously been linked with the Blues.

Let's put these last 20 months behind us and look for some good times to return to ITFC. Maybe us fans can do our bit by putting the atmosphere back in PR!

Keano not sure if you ever went onto TWTD or ever will but thanks for all your efforts. Most Ipswich fans wanted you to turn it around after last season and after a promising start to the season most started to believe it. Unfortunatly this season has been marred by bad luck and this result was unfortunatly inevitable. Once again thanks for all of your efforts and thanks for getting rid of all of the deadwood in the squad. Good luck in the future, hope to see you in management again one day I'm guessing as Trapattoni's successor.

If true we really are in the sh^te ! What decent manager is not working - none ! What decent manager is going to look at this club ( seeing the treatment the manager has had from the so called supporters ) and bother to come - none ! The constant griping from supporters with very little sense has destroyed the good name of this once great club and taken the heart out of the club ! The choices of some people shown on here for the next manager show how little sense or football knowledge they have and will now be the ruination of our club ! I never thought RK was the right man for our club but he did not deserve to have so much ill treatment from so called supporters ! How long will it be before the next manager starts to get the same treatment - 1 week ,2 weeks , 1 month ? I actually feel ashamed to be associated with the people who have shown so much disloyalty to this club !

well there ya go then, least all you moaning fickle fans can shut up now. Yes Roy Keane has his faults and after a bright start we have really shot down the table but the problems at our club run deeper than Roy Keane. We have a faceless owner, who has only ever been interesting in generating exposure for his name, business and associated companies using Keane, who is a big name in football in the process. he has his public face in Clegg, who isn't a football man and is incapable of completing transfer deals for players. Keane did his part of the deal by getting rid of players in the summer, he was then failed by evans and clegg.

What a time to sack him too especially with our high profile cup games coming up. He deserves to see us through the arsenal semi final, he was the 1 who took us there. I am seriously hoping that a replacement is already lined up. As for who it is id like hughton. But like others have said, be carefull what you fickle fans have wished for. Might be that the problems we have our down to our faceless owner and chief exec. its a disgrace and people need to get real

Meekreech. The new man, if he has made sure he knows anything about the club before coming here he will know how NOT to p*ss off the supporters. Keane went completely against what ipswich is about and the fans kicked off! Can you really blame them? It wasn't all about results! And WadzillaBhoy Keane managing the Irish national side??? Ahahahahahahahaha good luck to him!!

Paul Jewell, you couldn't make it up. Just what we don't need a whole season without a win at Derby, lowest number of points in Prem, sacked 19th in Championship. There's a reason he's not working at the moment , bring back Keane.

Garv you never know stranger things have happened i.e Steve Staunton! Trapattoni, although he is doing an amazing job wont be the manager after the World Cup due to health problems. I reckon Keano would be a good national manager and there is no doubt he'd have the full support from the Irish public.

Interesting times. This is our oppotunity to build up a nice style of play again. heres hoping that the funds are availible for the new manager #9whoever it may be) to purchase us some natural wide players.

personally, id like to Tisadale given the chance, hes got Exeter playing some of the best football of the Leagues and all on a shoestring budget...

I hope it's not true. We need stability and I for one will be sorry to see him go even if his tenure has not been the best. No doubt a few people will be happy but the majority would find fault with everything under the sun.
