Hes proven at Bradford and Wigan, His only downfall was Derby were he inherited a team which wasnt his and one of the worst in premier league history...All he needs to dohere is get the confidence back, get the best out of our strikers.. matbe bring in a few players and we could finally return to the promise land!

COYB!

Absolutely, why not!

Great to see a fresh face in there and hopefully there'll be plenty of fresh energy and a decent vibe around the place too!

Cheers Paul, hope you're happy at Portman Road!

Only time will tell. I like the fact he has added some continental flair to his coaching skills.

I'd like to welcome him, hopefully he can repeat the trick he did at Bradford.

I went to school in Menston, where he (probably used to, by now) live and know loads of Bradford fans who thought he was a good manager. He was good for Wigan too. He of course has a task ahead to turn us round but let's just focus on staying in the Championship this season and take it from there. Hoepfully an upward curve will follow

Well it seems this is "the money where your mouth is" department, So i will make it simple, personally i like the look and sound of him (Paul Jewell) and anyone (except Bryan Gunn) has got to be an improvement on the previous (not allowed to swear) fellow!!!

I like Paul Jewel and think that he is the right man to get the best from the players that we have.

Good Luck to the new manager. Fans of Wigan and Bradford speak very highly of Paul Jewell, who appears to be the kind of man to bring some attractive football back to Portman Road. For Jewell himself, this is a great opportunity to rebuild a managerial career. We have had some great managers here in the past, including the two greatest England managers we have ever seen. Here's hoping Paul Jewell can emulate some of their achievements, take us back to the promised land, where we belong, and beyond. The king is dead, long live the king.

I have a good feeling...his upbeat nature reminds me of fellow NW man BFJ, and he did a grand job.
Welcome Paul, and don't worry too much about the old dude in th eflkasher mac who hides in the bushes at training sessions...he's pretty harmless and is our own resident spy.

Welcome Mr Jewell. Now we can go forward with some stability and a clean slate. Let's just get 100% behind him and his team and learn how to be nice fans again.

I'm v. optimistic about this appointment - from everything I've read he sets up teams to play attractive football with plenty of width and players playing in their correct position; is good at man-management, knowing when to put an arm round shoulders and when a boot to ar*e; is good at wheeling-dealing in the transfer market incl taking in recent games abroad, etc. - ie he plays to peoples strengths to get the most out of them. All oh so different to RK's approach. Good. All the v. best PJ and hope you get a bit of luck along the way too.

Welcome to ITFC Paul!

I wish you the best of luck.
If he is the right man for the job, well onlt time will tell.
He has a proven track record at this level, speaking to some Derby fans they think he was unlucky at County. I think he was too ambitious at Derby. They just about made playoffs the previous season under Billy Davis and it was a miracle they got promoted with a decent Championship squad. When Jewel took over I think he tried to make them a Premier League squad almost over night with a huge influx of players. The squad became too large and messy.

He comes here without the expectaions that Keane had when he took over, that should help. With time and good backing I think he will keep us up and make us competitive again.

Best Of Luck Paul!

I'm 100% behind Paul Jewell. I'm also aware that he will need a couple of years to build a promotion challenge. Good luck ba!

I think this will end up being a very shrewd appointment by Ipswich, the guy has bags of experience in this division, has got teams promoted, and kept those teams in the prem, so yes a very good appointment.

I will predict we will be in and around the play offs next season.

So the very best of british Mr Jewell, i for one will be backing you all the way!

Initially wasnt to impressed when I heard it was Jewell, after hearing his press conference at lunch time I have done a complete u-turn. The man talks a lot of sense and he talks about getting the players to 'enjoy the game again'. He is going to be exactly what we need, the arm round the shoulder type.

Another nice point I thought was that we wasnt getting carried away with talk of promotion or anything, he wants us to challenge obviously but he not only wants us to challenge but wants to build a strong side that is not only capable of winning promotion but is capable of staying if we get there.

Overall stats arent to bad:

Played 504 games
Won 197 games
Drawn 120 games
Lost 187

As Jewell also said, it is a fresh start and I can wait for big fat jewell to take over on Thursday. COYB

Bearing in mind the state our club is in I think this is an excellent appointment. Some of the other names mentioned were way out of reach (O 'Neill for example) and could only ever be wishful thinking; PJ knows this league, has been successfull in getting his teams promoted out of it twice and likes his sides to play the type of football Ipswich fans like to watch. Good luck Paul, you'll do for me.
