Kids Wanted for Derby Guard of Honour
Kids Wanted for Derby Guard of Honour
Monday, 11th Apr 2011 12:04

The ITFC Charitable Trust is offering fans aged from seven to 14 the chance to take part in our guard of honour at the East Anglian derby against Norwich City at Portman Road on Thursday 21st April.

In addition to being part of the guard of honour waving flags as the players take to the field, the children will have a pre-match coaching session on the practice pitch, be taken pitchside to soak up the atmosphere as it builds and have their photo taken while the players warm-up ahead of the big game.

Places, which cost £20 each, are limited and are strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. To book or for further information, call 01473 400749 (office opening times 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, excluding weekends and bank holidays).

Match tickets are not included and must already have been purchased through the Ticket Office. Children will need to be at the ground in time for a 5pm start. Please note, this is a parent-free event.

Ah. Couldn't the club find it in their heart to let the kids do this for free?! Does everything have to make a profit nowadays?

£20!!! for a child to be a guard of honour!!! what a bloody disgrace, why is this not being offered for free!?!? A nice chance for youngsters to fulfil a dream & they are charged for the privilage, an opportunity for the club to give something back to the fans, & they balls it up again, shame on you SC & ME.....

I have just booked my son onto this. Is a great idea and he is really looking forward to it. I would like to point out that this is being run by the ITFC Charitable Trust (A CHARITY) and those taking part will also receive football training as well. It's not just £20 for waving the flags.

As per ad_dx's post it's the Charitable Trust which is offering this as opposed to the club, which I've now made clear on the story.

thanks for clearing that up Phil...... however surely there are some poor kids out there whose parents/careers could never afford this in a million years that would benefit?

I have just got my son onto this, I am chuffed for him, we have not been able to goto as many matches as we like this year even though we have season tickets, I would not normally pay for this but he has donated his Bone Marrow to his Little Brother this year so Ithink this a suitable reward.

Perhaps TWTD could sponsor a couple of kids?

@ Gilsey, Dont feel guilty. your point is valid, I think its Pretty std that clubs charge for all these types of things and I am only gutted that I never got the chance when I used to stand on my Milk Crate by the wall in the Churchmans in the 80's!

"be taken pitchside to soak up the atmosphere as it builds"

Was that bit a joke, there is never an vocal atmosphere at PR. But if you are talking about the amount of people that moan...

Also thanks Phil for clearing that up, I will relent my anger on this as it is for the ITFC Charitable Trust, although would it have hurt the Club to have covered the cost?

A parent free event? Do you expect my son to drive to the ground?
