Wolves Linked With Sharp Move
Wolves Linked With Sharp Move
Thursday, 19th May 2011 09:29

Premier League Wolves are ready to make a move for Town target Billy Sharp, according to one of this morning’s tabloids. The 25-year-old Doncaster man is said to be on the Midlanders' summer wish-list regardless of whether they are relegated this weekend.

Manager Mick McCarthy is said to be ready to offer Rovers £2.5 million for the ex-Sheffield United man, who was the subject of a rebuffed £2.3 million bid from the Blues last week.

Town also offered Doncaster £300,000 for midfielder James Coppinger and look likely to make further offers for the pair.

could hang on the chance of wolves staying up realy , anyway as much as the guy is a good striker i do not think the club should get into a bidding war just make another good offer and leave it at that . imo of course

don't stop bidding beat wolves to get billy sharp because we need a striker so don't give up paul jewell we need him and get a partner for him if it happens ive got a good felling about billy sharp scoring for ipswich next season.( about 20 or over goals)

ithink we will find mr jewel is the type of manager who would take offence at a player dithering about which club he would go to as i realy believe he holds town in high regard and feels its his biggest job in football and a player should be gagging to play for town . i would love billy sharp here but we need someone who wants to play here for the club and fans and not just a big payout yeah i know that is a little optimistic

lets hope the silence on transfers is a positive thing and by that i mean possibly due to the leaks about possible transfers maybe town are already in the stage of bringing players in but are dealing with clubs who also prefer to keep the tabloid hype at a low on the bidders request . god im optimistic but you never know

Not surprising news if he's as good as we hope he is. I personally doubt we'll get any of the younger up and coming players we're linked with at the moment. Nosworthy is more realistic. More chance of getting the up coming youngsters after the season has started (January even) when they can see that we're actually doing well and are a club with decent prospects. Outside of that I think we're looking to unearth some gems from lower leagues.

Think PJ is more street wise than our more recent managers (well he is more experienced after all) and won't get caught in a bidding war. He said he made reasonable offers for the Doncaster boys and isn't being rushed into an increased offer by their chairman's comments.
Seeing as a few had doubts as to Sharp with regards to his flop at Sheff Utd, I'm surprised a premiership club is interested, which I expect Wolves to be next season. The prem sounds like a step too far for him at this stage of his career. He needs to prove his worth in a good championship team, not just the big fish at a small club that he's been successful at so far.

That puts Ebanks-Blake further down the pecking order at Wolves then. Always seems to score against us.

Thats that then.

this literally all depends on whether they stay up. if they come down, i genuinely think town have more chance than wolves of getting promoted next season - so if i was sharp i would choose us! - (even if i am a little bit bias!!!!)

Wonder if this is agent talk, encouraging ITFC to up their bid.

Andy Keogh may be leaving Wolves this summer or Ebanks Blake as some said earlier.
Ebanks Blake would be a very good signing. Big ,strong and scores goals at this level. He would be in the 15-20 goal bracket.

The silence from Doncaster either means that a bid has been accepted (fingers crossed) or Jewell is just playing a waiting game and making ryan sweat because doncaster could do alot with 2.6 million

I just hope that they stay up! This is not helped by up us not making an improved bid yet.

The chances of us signing either Graham or Sharp is very slim. Both will attract better clubs than us I am afraid. Also, as we know from RK's time, when we have players at the club wanting to sign - somehow Clegg manages to mess it up.

i dont think it will be easy getting anyone of note in .P J said he wants to get players in early ,which is a good thing, but i fear it will be same as last year, fuffing and puffing, and nothing .ITFC just dont seem able to attract players now .I cant really see us making Prem .We seem destined to remain mid table also rans and we will have to live with that unless major changes come about on and off field .
