Town Confirm Griffiths Agrees Deal
Wednesday, 1st Jun 2011 18:06

Town have confirmed that midfielder Jamie Griffiths has agreed to sign his new six-month contract. The 19-year-old’s current one-year deal is up at the end of the month.

Bury St Edmunds-based Griffiths made his senior debut as a late sub in the Carling Cup victory over Northampton but was out of action for the second half of the season with a double stress fracture of his back.

Is he that good? Surely he would have got more than 6 months if he was one for the future first team.

FFS is this really all Town fans have got to get excited about?

I thought we were meant to be signing a player(s) "within the next week or so"- that was over 2/52 ago now , and STILL NOTHING!!

Good news, but I too am worried about the lack of incoming transfer activity. Soon we will be hearing that everyone is on holiday, then before we know it we will be back into pre-season training without the new players we need! I am concerned that all the best players and free-agents will be gone if we don't hurry up.

Good luck to Jamie - but agree with other posters - what happened to signing new players 'within a week or two' - that was PJ being 'confident' three weeks ago.

please people stop moaning. its not going to help now is it?

we'll get somebody in soon. the season has only just finished and these things take time. if you dont have faith go and find another club to support

Mutters

No one supports Town for the glory, but it would be nice to know that something is being done to sort out the mess we are in. Yet another season of medocrity-at-best is not really what we want, or do we?

New players are needed, and the latter they are found the less likely that they were high on PJ's 'desire list'.

Changing club is not an option, but improving our playing staff is a must.

Is he much better than Troy Brown? Yet we could do with a couple of centre backs even if it's just for cover. To be honest this contract is probably the only one on the table for him unlike Brown et al.

Mutters - from what I can see, the club are not in a position for fans to 'go find another club'! Attendances have already been falling at an alarming rate. The purpose of this board is to state an opinion. It was PJ, not the fans who said after the final league game that he was confident of signing 'a player or two' in the next 'week or two'. That was three weeks ago. Perhaps PJ would be better off not saying anything next time as unfortunately it (rightly) raises expectation.

we support ipswich NOT another club. Some are moaners some are pesimists some are realists, BUT all are ITFC

Nobody wants to find another club to support. They just want the one we do support to pull there finger out. Every year we are promised signings before pre season which never materialise. Our squad lacks strength and depth now so we need to see some players of quality coming in ASAP

People, funnily enough we are not the only club that is yet to sign a player. We have no devine right to any player at the moment. The season has just finished. Clam yourselves. Go and watch some cricket to pass the time.

Ipswich expect Freddy Adu to arrive in uk shortly to complete his free transfer on a 2 yr deal.
Ruddy,
Treacy, St. Ledger, Campbell, Bruce (loan).
E-Thomas (loan), Dyer, Lansbury (loan), Martins.
Dos Santos (loan), Chopra.
Alex Bruce extremely close to signing for Ipswich Town - everyone may think that this is a load of **** but i assure you that he is keen to get back to the East Anglian side as he isn't too pleased with the lack of first team football and wants a move back down South to rejuvinate his career.

Rumour has it that Connor Wickham is on his way to Hull City in an exchange deal for Jimmy Bullard. Ipswich are happy for it, Hull are happy for it and Connor is happy for it to happen. It all depends on whether Bullard wants to drop his wages from £45k a week and to move. Personally I doubt he will want to leave his current contract and will look to go out on loan again, having the Tigers part pay his wages.
Norwich citys John Ruddy seen in Ipswich today, he better not join the scummers, he is too good for that!

THIS IS ALL RUMOUR CRAP WE LOOK AND COMMENT ON.
Cant wait till start of the season this transfer lark is all a load of poop.

Why are we giving him a new contract? He will be released when the 6 months are up no doubt.

Jamie - hope you've recovered from your injury and can now push on with your career.

Guthrum :- Echo your words.
Could be wrong here, but weren't the players Paul Jewell was refering to, Sharpe and his mate, and did we not make a sensible offer for them and wasn't it the director of their club trying to drag us into a dutch auction ? Personally, I'd sooner guys coming in who want to play for us and not their huge overinflated wage packets [ and before anybody mentions Jimmy Bullard, we didn't pay him his 45 grand a week, so it can be done ]. I'm sure that Paul Jewell et al, are working like mad behind the scenes trying to get the right players for us, its in their interests as well as ours. It ain't gonna happen overnight, please guys try and be patient.
