Lambe on Trial at Newport
Lambe on Trial at Newport
Thursday, 14th Jul 2011 09:19

Released Town winger Reggie Lambe is on trial with Blue Square Bet Premier side Newport County. The 20-year-old was told his Portman Road terms wouldn’t be extended at the end of the season.

Lambe returned to former loan club Bristol Rovers for a trial but failed to impress new manager Paul Buckle.

Last night, the Bermudian international was in friendly action with Newport, creating the first goal in a 4-1 victory over Merthyr Town.

Lambe made four Carling Cup starts and two Championship sub appearances during his time with the Blues.

He might do ok at Newport County. A friend of mine watched the game against Merthyr Town and said that he seemed to fit in well. He caused a couple of problems to the defence but his first touch let him down on some occasions.
We need to keep Jason Scotland.

With a name like 'Lambe', he'll be popular in South Wales

After making a few appearances for Ipswich and internationally, he must be disappointed not to have been able to get a league club.

Jesus, that's a drop and a half! Just shows how poor he was and Jewell's saved us a few quid paying him for another year. If he gets any lower he'll be pulling on a shirt for Achilles in a few weeks!

Being so young he needs to play games - if he proves himself at this level he will soon move up the leagues. It's better to play in a low division than sit on your ass in a higher one.

Good Luck Reggie!
