Collins: Defeat a Sickener
Collins: Defeat a Sickener
Saturday, 19th Nov 2011 22:51

Two-goal defender Danny Collins said falling to a 3-2 defeat at Nottingham Forest was a “sickener”, the Blues conceding two goals in the final six minutes. The on-loan Stoke man scored two goals in a game for the first time in his professional career, with his opener the first he has scored in 34 months.

Collins said: "Of course we're all bitterly disappointed in the dressing room. For me personally, to score two goals and still come off losing is a bit of a sickener.

"We just seem a bit soft at the minute and as a team we can't seem to see games out.

"I felt that we did enough to deserve not just a point but all three today.

"But it's the same old story at the minute in that we haven't been able to see the game out."

Meanwhile, keeper David Stockdale accepted the blame for Forest's first goal on Twitter: "Gutted about today. First goal was my error. Sorry to those fans who came today and were great. Put it right and work hard for next week.

"We all learn from mistakes and [it] makes us better! Glad to have great fans to drag us through. Start Monday and head down, work hard in training."

Discipline, that's what it takes & we ain't got it at all. The future is not looking good for this squad, we leak goals like a sieve and our so called strikers can't score, it's not a good combination...in fact it's relegation form. Thank God I'm working abroad and can't get to games at the moment!!!

Algarvefan we do score goals, if not always from our strikers. That is something Jewell has vastly improved.

Collins does the business at one end but let's his man get access him for the second.

Mr Evans,
you have put a lot of money into this club.
You have a two year plan for promotion.
Where is it?
A team of old has beens who have not produced, youngster who desert like rats from a sinking ship. WE are not going foward but backwards.
May be we should look at you record of manager selection, BOTH are failures and the present one is dooming us to worse.
Perhaps you should re appraise you criteria and selection requirements which so far have been the wrong choices.

Can't seem to see games out? We're never in front or level to be able to see games out!!

Saying that, at least you've said a few words! Where's our mute skipper!?

I think the problem is that we have a 2 year plan. Ever since ME arrived we've tried for a quick fix and failed miserably. As others have said we need to build a team, not keep going for loan players who we have no chance of keeping. As much as I enjoyed his spell what was the point of bring Gio here? Andrews and Collins likely to leave, what if Stockdale gets called back as well?
We need a young and ambitious manager (don't think Jim was that man) to build his own team and be given the time to do it without any boardroom pressure which we keep being told doesn't exist.
Reading lost at home yesterday and their fans must be getting disgruntled, never mind guys you've got the easiset fixture in the calendar coming up next weekend which'll see you getting 3 points.

Oh, and we have a captain who's contract runs out in the summer and he isn't in a rush to sign a new one. So it'll be another summer of rebuilding ahead of us then.

I accept that Leadbitter isn't the best player we have ever had but he certainly isn't the worst and he does have something on his side that most of the rest of the squad doesn't have and that is time! He is younger than most of our has beens and contrary to what most people on this site seem to think he does try. The problem is we don't have anyone really who is fit to lace the boots of Paul Mariner's understudy yet alone the man himselfs boots. The club is in sharp decline and is terminally ill, unless some major surgery happens quickly we will be playing in the divsion below next year. In short lets get in a new manager with forward thinking ideas and not one who trots out the same old excuse every week.

All gloom and doom again.

It is the same squad, who, a few weeks ago looked very good. Long season ahead folks, don't give up yet. As others have said, we do at least keep scoring goals.

Sonko's absence has been the difference. Hopefully he won't be out much longer. His return will put a bit of confidence back in the side.

The difference in recent games has been the failure to clear high balls into the box.

I don't understand why Jewell persists with bringing in players from the Premier League, they are over paid, and over-rated.

Why don't we bring in young, hungry players from the lower leagues, it's worked for Southampton and Norwich, so why can't we do this, Cresswell is our best player and came from League One.

We also have some talented youngsters here at the club as well, Joe Whight, Cody Cropper and Byron Lawrence, if they're good enough out them into the first team.

Keanish we were ahead....Twice and with eight minutes to go.... back to the keane days of nervey ends to games when you just know the opposition will score, this team needs to man up and grow some balls!!

What happened to luke hyam playing it that defensive midfield role? Then you can push bullard more forward so he can play his amazing through balls to chopra, and I have to admit we are missing sonko heavily at the moment, coyb!

The likes of Holland, Kuqi, Mowbray, Magilton, Clapham, Naylor, Bent, etc etc etc had passion, desire and hunger.
This team that PJ has thrown together do not have passion, desire and hunger!!!

Jewellio I think it is time you sold that Diamond, perhaps we might get enough for it to help us in the Jan. sales. !!!!!!
I have a feeling there will be bigger gaps in the terraces on Sat.
The enthusiasm is dwindling fast ????
