Town Linked With Move for Leicester's Gallagher Sunday, 6th May 2012 15:15
Town are reported to have made a £750,000 bid to Leicester for striker or winger Paul Gallagher. The 27-year-old impressed as a second-half sub in the Foxes’ recent 2-1 victory over the Blues at Portman Road.
Gallagher was born in Glasgow but brought up in Blackburn and joined his local club as a youngster. While with Rovers he spent time on loan at Stoke (twice), Preston and Plymouth before joining Leicester for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2009. He is contracted until the summer of 2015.
Capped once by Scotland at full level, Gallagher, who is 6ft tall, has made 99 starts and 30 sub appearances since joining the Foxes and has scored 28 goals.
Gallagher’s wife Hayley recently gave birth to premature twins, one of whom, son Luca, died, while daughter Ava remains in intensive care.
If this is true and we pull this off! It would be a very ambitious signing! He is a very good player.. And one I feel is a total step in the right direction he would slot in perfectly to our town side.. And I see some people moaning about defenders and that should be our priority.. Jewell has already come out and Said that it's his main priority.. The man is looking.. At the end of the day I don't care what order we sign the players in aslong as we get players that will strength! And this lad certainly ticks all the boxes
I haven't seen him, but I thought that the priorities were supposed to be a goalkeeper and a centre-half. The season just gone we had no difficulty scoring goals, it was stopping them that we fell down on.
Agree with others who were at the Leicester game, when he came on at half time he changed the game, at this level he is a class act would be a good signing if it is true.
Cracking championship player who can play wide right or upfront but just hope PJ doesn't blow his budget on this type of player. All for it aslong as PJ has got enough pennies for 2 centre halves and a gk. Doubt we'd get him anyway, Leicester will be strong next season.
Only ever seen him play twice, he was pretty decent on both occasions.
Would be a great replacement for Murphy, as he is happy on the wing and a good crosser of the ball. Equally important, he is also a regular 10 goal a season man, which we have sorely missed since the departure of Norris (and Andrews).
He has circa 3 years left on his contract and is a good player, so he's not going to come cheap and I doubt £750k is going to do it. If they are happy to sell, I would imagine £1.1million to £1.25million is nearer to market value.
you lot moaning about signing defenders, of course we need defenders but we also need other players in other positions too. We aren't going to be signing players "in order" but when the right kind of player comes up at the right price at the right time, wherever they play, we're going to be in there.
its not the fact people are moaning about him being a has-been cus he aint. but me personally, i would like someone who is between 21-23 who has played 100-200 games in the lower leagues who is hungry and have a point to prove. not someone who has filtered down from the premiership and move from club to club in the championship. this in my eyes is not good business.
Leicester are having a big clear out according to the papers. not sure gallagher was one of the ones they would like to get rid of. He looks decent at this level, never made it in the PL. Konchesky is also suprlus and i thioughht he looked very good against us and has done well in the PL for hammers, fulham and iverpool. Is he a LB though ?
Murphy will not be returning so we need a replacement. Would prefer a permanent player rather than a loan. Is this guy good enough? Not sure - but no worse than what PJ has signed so far.
More importantly, best wishes to Paul and his family at what must be a very difficult time.
I also read that we are after Stephen Quinn of Sheffield United. Not sure if that's true or not?
This would be a good signing! JET and Gallagher on the wings with Martin playing the free role, that sounds threatening.
Definitely brings more to the table than Murphy. Gallagher has skill, pace and is very sharp on the ball. I've always been a fan of this guy. Sceptics on here, need to shush. 27 is the age of player we should be eyeing up, he has a lot to offer.
Will you lot please STOP moaning about absolutely everything! It doesn't matter what you think, it only matters what PJ and his staff think, as they make the decisions....Chillax and enjoy the summer!
