Jewell: JET Must Do Better
Friday, 28th Sep 2012 06:00

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas will have to show more than he did during last week’s defeat to Charlton if he’s going to get back into the Town team, according to manager Paul Jewell. The 21-year-old was hauled off at half-time having failed to make any impression on the game.

Jewell said: “He won’t get back into action if he plays as he did on Saturday, and he knows that. I’ve had a long chat with him this week and he played for the U21s on Monday.

“It’s just turning that undoubted ability that he has into consistency. He is the type of player whose languid style makes it look as if he’s not caring. That’s just his style and I’ve spoken to him about that.

“When he’s not very good, he’s got to be better than he has been. I always think that really good players, when they don’t have their best days, which is quite often, they still contribute something to the team.

“And at the moment JET, when it’s not happening for him, he’s not giving us anything else, and he’s aware of that.”

I think he should be on a pay per play contract, then he would do it. Watching the olympics has made me realize just how pathetic ( at times ) the modern player is . Really privileged people and in need of a reality check.COYB

Definitely swapping his position 3 times in half an hour then hauling off at half time will get the best out of him.......

When he's under-performing, you can really tell because of his laid-back attitude.
Once he gets that consistent form, he'l be walking rings around everyone and firing into the net from 30 yards. Haha, note i said 'walking'. ;)
Seriously though, he'll improve, form is temporary.

I think that we can all see that JET could be really special, the key word being 'could'. I just hope that he's not becoming another Pablo, these are important times for him and I hope he can return to form soon....we need him.

Not sure Jewell is the type of manager that JET needs - think he is a confidence player and would respond to an arm around the shoulder. Hopefully he'll improve and find consistency.

In reality he has been consistent since he arrived, consistently disappointing. Not even a luxury player to be honest, as luxury players at least provide a few moments of magic each game whilst doing nothing for the rest of it, but JET can't even manage that.

The players must be more p***ed off than the manager at having to cover his dire, lazy play all the time, which of course sucks morale out of the team and creates a bad atmosphere. I'd rather have an academy player that tries his heart out playing in his place.

Now we can see why Arsenal let him go
They have one of the best managers and coaching staff in the country and they could not get the best out of him.

So how the hell are we going too

Well said Karlosfandangal my point all along Wenger must have jumped at the chance to get some money for him no one wanted him as he is lazy and is inlove with himself just look at hius twitter page.
Get him out of the club now and take Chopra and Jewell with him.

He frustrates me as he doesn't jump, he's a big lad, gotta use his head, not just for heading the ball either, watching him is frustrating, you know he has talent about him, but he just doesnt switch on enough

I'm sorry but there isn't a manager that will change him, he will always be lazy.

That is why he has ended up at Town instead of making it at Arsenal.

Give him a go up front he can't be any worse than Chopra - on the other hand ?

Play him in behind striker, not out wide PJ he is not a winger! Keep swapping him about during games is no good both him and Murphy are not wingers wake up PJ everyone else can see this

lucytown- Jewell does strike me as an 'arm round the shoulder' kind of manager.
