Bramble to Train at Town Saturday, 22nd Jun 2013 22:30
Former Blue Titus Bramble is set to spend time training at Playford Road during pre-season, we understand. Bramble, 31, was released by Sunderland at the end of the 2012/13 campaign and is currently looking for a new club.
A return to the Town ranks seems unlikely with Premier League clubs almost certainly eyeing the centre-half, who has played in the top flight ever since his time with the Blues.
Bramble came through the Town academy, which he now sponsors, before making his senior debut in the 1998/99 season. The Ipswich-born defender was sold to Newcastle United, then managed by Sir Bobby Robson, for £4.5 million in the summer of 2002.
Meanwhile, former Blues winger Gary Roberts, 29, has joined Chesterfield on a three-year deal having been released from his contract at Swindon on Friday.

"those direct run" - yeah, in 1998 maybe! Does anyone regularly watch MOTD? He ALWAYS makes mistakes - every time he's on!
"better than Smith and Chambers" - REALLY!?!?!?
While we're at it let's get Mowbray, Clapham and Naylor back shall we!? I mean Dyer played against us last season and as much as he too loves the club would we really want him back! I'm sure Titus is a nice bloke and he may love ITFC but so do I and I wouldn't make the team, or want to!
We need to move forward! I'm sorry to say Bramble is a backward step.
Training with Town is fine but how can any town fan ever forgive him for the incident in the San Siero when he ran half the length of the pitch to get Del Pireo's shirt and appeared oblivious that 9000 Town fans were there watching who deserved maybe a round of applause at the conclusion of a match...........rant over
He is a good premierleague quality defender. No player is perfect but Bramble is a good player, hasnt been helped by injuries recently. If he joined us I would be delighted, guaranteed 100% commitment.
he signed for wigan after being at newcastle so surely we got great chance signin him not all about the money think he got plenty after all these years in premiership but do we want to break up our defensive partnership that looks so good now ? we cud play him at right back
Bramble too good for us? I think not. He was much more a liability than a star, I saw his calamities on a number of occasions. He repeated himself plenty of times in the top flight, but hes a big lad, so I guess teams will still be interested. We can do much better in my humble opinion.
I must have been watching a different Bramble over the years than many others on this site.
He had one decent season at Wigan and other than that its been the same as when he was here before, adequate performances interspersed with far too many catastrophic errors!
Some on here say he is too good for us and others that he is rubbish,I think its somewhere between;as he wouldnt have had all those years in the Prem playing fairly regularly for Newcastle Wigan and Sunderland if he was that bad.Hull could be interested in him as a squad player; but if Mick thinks he would be worth a punt, then thats fine by me.
I remember refereeing him in a game when he was ten or eleven. He covered every blade of grass about fifty times. He was the sort of kid who would take a corner then run to get on the end of his own cross! I'd be quite happy to see him on some sort of deal for 2013-14 but I'm sure he'll get fixed up somewhere else.
Completely agree regencyblue. Besides, there's no way tommy and chambers will be split up as a partnership. Those calling for Bramble to sign are way off the mark. We'll be in the market for a back up CB, a utility CB and a right back who can also play CB. An out and out ex prem CB is not on our list of targets.
if he wants to sign within our budget then id be delighted to welcome him back but i cant see that happening. I cant believe people are on here saying he is no good! are you suggesting that managers have played him so often in the PL league just for a laugh? or that all his premier league managers who have risen to the top manegerial level dont have a clue what they are doing -come off it why insult him like that he did well for us made a few quid out of him and he has done well in his career he makes mistakes but dont we all
