Blues Move for Ex-Loanee Keeper Friday, 5th Jul 2013 22:38
Former loanee Bartosz Bialkowski could be set for a return to Portman Road with the Blues understood to have made an offer to Notts County for the Polish keeper. Bialkowski, who is 26 on Saturday, was previously on loan at Portman Road for the last few months of the 2008/09 season while a Southampton player.
During that time the Braniewo-born keeper failed to make a first team appearance but was sent off after handling the ball outside the area in his reserves debut at Luton.
The 6ft 4½in tall Pole started his career in his home country with Olimpia ElblÄ…g and Górnik Zabrze before moving to Southampton, where he worked with Town keeper-coach Malcolm Webster and ex-boss George Burley, in January 2006.
Another loan spell at Barnsley followed the next season and with his opportunities in his six years at St Mary’s having been limited to just 41 starts and one sub appearance — ex-Blue Kelvin Davis having been the Saints’ number one for the most part — he joined Notts County on a three-year deal last summer.
During his first season for the Magpies, who Town meet in a pre-season friendly at Meadow Lane on Saturday 27th July, the Polish U20 international made 40 League One starts and kept 14 clean sheets.
Town are unlikely to be the only Championship club to have taken note of that form for the side now managed by ex-Blue Chris Kiwomya. The Blues also might struggle to match the fee County would want for Bialkowski.
Having released Arran Lee-Barrett and Jason Brown at the end of the season, Scott Loach is currently Town’s only senior goalkeeper and at least one new keeper will be on manager Mick McCarthy’s summer wish list, probably two.
Ex-Bristol City and Colchester man Dean Gerken is currently on trial with the Blues in Ireland and could be involved in Saturday's friendly against Shelbourne in Dublin.

Notts County have a young keeper called Fabian Speiss who played a few games under Kiwomya towards the end of last season and done well by all acounts. Perhaps Kimomya is thinking of risking him as their number 1 next season, leaving the door open for Bialkowski.
Can you not publish this paragraph any more please Phil? I must have read it about 30 times!!

Nigel Adkins is trying not to laugh at the end of that video, what I've heard is that he has improved, everybody makes mistakes. Just look at Tommy Smith and what confidence as done to him...i remember saying at the start he's not good enough for the division and now I believe him and Chambo have a solid partnership.
I've only seen him play once and it was for Southampton on tv. That game he had an absolute howler and thought he was going to fet substituted. Any better than ALB?
I have to say I don't remember him being with us! However, clearly a much improved keeper nowadays and highly thought of. If true, and if we will being paying a fee, this tells me that MM is after a new number one keeper and Loach will be back-up. Can't see us paying out to sit him on the bench - particularly as money seems very tight and Mick is working to a very strict budget.
I also find it odd that people are focusing on just one howler he made years ago for Southampton. It seems to be the same people who fail to realise that Loach had many poor games for us last season - flapping, failing to collect and hold the ball etc. It's little wonder that MM had little faith in him and lets not forget that even PJ dropped him!
hmmm can't remember him being with us either! bit of a strange move if we have put a bid in for him, does anybody know if Henderson is coming to us on a season long loan?
