Allen: Town Not Team of Real Quality
Wednesday, 17th Jul 2013 11:02

Gillingham manager Martin Allen said he believes Town are not “a team of real quality” after the Blues beat his side 2-1 at the Priestfield Stadium last night. First-year pro David October smashed home an injury time winner to grab the victory.

Allen told Kent Online that the scoreline was unfair on his League One team: “The goal at the end did take the shine off it and I don’t think that was a fair reflection of the way the game was.

“I was just disappointed for the lads who were on for those final 20 minutes. They ran themselves into the ground and it was a big night for them to play in such a game for the first team. It was good to see some of our younger players out there.”

He added: “I thought it was a great game and we played really well. We had some good possession in the first half and I think they had one little melee of chances, where Stuart Nelson made some good saves and they showed a bit of quality to score from their freekick.

“I thought overall in the first half we played very well. We changed a little bit in the second half, played a bit of a different way, which created a lot of pressure and we scored a great goal. We were then looking for the winner and I was delighted with all of them.”

Allen, who led the Gills to the League Two title last season, didn’t appear overly impressed with the Blues: “I have to be honest, I don’t view Ipswich as having a team of real quality. I don’t mean that in any disrespect to Mick McCarthy or their players or supporters.

“For me, personally, I believe our players are quality. For me we are better than them without a shadow of a doubt.”

HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!

Martin Allen, you are an ignorant, class A C*NT of a W*NKER who failed miserably when he managed in the Championship. Isn't your team in League Two?!!!

Sorry mate, but your team just got beat by a half-strength ITFC side, and the winning goal was by a first year pro who hasn't even got a first team appearance to his name. Furthermore, your team got dominated.

In your Micky Mouse, semi-pro, sh*t-heap of a league, you may be the big dogs, but believe me, Ipswich will beat you ever single time we play you!

*Sorry to the Gillingham fans, this is aimed at your ars*hole manager... not yourselves.

....In season gone by I've considered Martin Allen to be a slightly underated manager, I must admit he has been unlucky on more than one occasion in the past but after this latest comment he's gone way down in my estimation!

WELL......there's a thing, he thinks he can comment on a side based on an early pre-season friendly!! I thought he had a bit more about him than that, it's your job to comment on Gillingham not on the opposition in a 90 minute friendly. That team won't bear much resemblance to our league starting 11 anyway with youth and trialists in the side, so shut it you muppett!!!!

Was he refering to the 1st half team or the 2nd half team.

Muppet comment aside - we had trialists in two of our guarenteed starters in Cressie and Taylor were absent plus we all expect some additions through the door.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, even those who are nuts enough to swim in the River/open sewer Thames for fun.

"We are better than them without a shadow of a doubt!" What an absolute tool Allen is. What a deluded man. He must be living in a dream world where Gillingham are the next Barcelona. Have fun in the lower leagues you muppet. Garbage by a man whose had more clubs than Tiger Woods.

His team "ran themseles into the ground" and still got beaten by a half strength Ipswich side.
Speaks volumes for their manager.
