Town Set to Sign Stephen Hunt
Thursday, 7th Nov 2013 15:25

TWTD understands that Town are set to sign former Wolves and Reading winger Stephen Hunt on a short-term deal until January. Hunt, 32, has recently been training with the Blues at Playford Road.

Ireland international Hunt is a player Mick McCarthy was interested in signing early in the summer following his release by Wolves.

After a move to Saturday's opponents Blackpool broke down, Hunt joined the Blues squad for training, although at the time McCarthy played down the chances of him joining the club. More recently Hunt was linked with a move to Millwall.

McCarthy took Hunt to Molineux from Hull City for £3 million in August 2010 and he was a regular in his side for the next two seasons.

The ex-Crystal Palace, Brentford and Reading man missed much of last season due to calf and hernia problems before returning to action in March but couldn’t prevent his former club from plummeting into League One.

Hunt is likely to be in the Town squad travelling to Blackpool on Saturday.

No long term commitment so worth a punt I'd say.

Well worth a try even if we do have him until January, won't be any worse than any of the other misfiring midfielders, let's hope MM does play him on the left, might end up on the bench.

@PortmanTerrorist you know what when quoting Mick Mills? The man is a fantastic tactician as well as a living legend. He has forgotton more about football then everyone on this sight knows. You'd do well to listen to what the man says but also show a bit more respect .

WickedBlue - ..... agree with you totally.

Have to ask why Mick is playing some players out of position, if Anderson is playing inside from his natural left midfield position. Have to say during the Barnsley game he seemed to be on the right and Tunnicliffe on the left! and then there't the RB situation which he's brought on himself by signing Berra. In my mind MM hasn't started has made a few mistakes already - obviously not helped by the board.

Oh my fookin good god, Mick can't win there are so many negative idiots on here at times. How hard is it to understand Mick has gone for an experienced left sided player, someone he knows will give his all. If it means getting Tunnicliffe in the middle I am all for it.

IN MICK WE SHOULD ALL TRUST (or go support someone else)

So who will give way then?

Wordsworth and Taylor no good then? Hardly seen any of them to find out

Not convinced

Mick should also go for a trusted right back from the same team - oh hang on that opportunity came and went , he hasn't sorted that out yet.

Let's hope it isn't Jimmy Bullard all over again.

Must get my eyes tested. At first glance I thought we were about to sign Ivan Campo again!
Seriously though I agree with Lower_North about Wordsworth and Taylor having a chance.

.... yet again obvious by posts on this thread that this Club has many fans who expect absolutely NOTHING from this Club other than for it to exist, and a game of Football played.

Thankfully, not all are like that and expect more - MEDIOCRE will always be acceptable to some - sad that.
And that's the real reason why we will never be what we once were.

Think about it !! - it's a fact.

Nah...Mick likes his old mates! A fine choice with Stearman but the board obviously didn't.

So what would you like to see, Blueboy1981?
And how would you get your wishes?

h32 - was in hindsight fairly correct about much of Jewell's campaign (and Keane's) so that might be a complement.

Unbelievable some people on here. Most of you are moaning about lack of creativity & attacking flair - as I am.

However, when McCarthy - on, no doubt, the smallest budget in the Championship - tries something different, people start moaning.

Who knows if Hunt is still any good? But let's wait and see before the moaners start - Kesgrave Blue, I am just about sick of your negativity

If he is fit & prepared to work as hard as the current players then potentially this could be a good move as he will bring something to the team we don't have in terms of creativity and forward running.
Then again there is always the fear he may turn into another Reo-Coker but for 6 weeks it's a gamble worth taking

pinewoodblueboy - ...... definitely not - but I have to say I have shared some of his views and agreed with many of his previous posts . At least he always desired success for his Club - I too would welcome him back.

blueboy 1981, I locked horns with h32 many times but, to be fair as TimmyH rightly pointed out, he was proved to be correct in a lot of what he said on here.

...... oh I forgot - if we dare to disagree with the current plight or what's going on 'we have to go and support someone else' - yes, of course.

The Club needs that like I need a hole in the head - that's REALITY for you.

will have to go out on loan to get match fit?

why didn't we sign him 4 weeks ago if he's so good?

is he still dressing like a tranny?

Get a grip boys. stop acting like fools. MM knows what he is doing for goodness sakes.

If he performs like the last few experienced Ex-Premiership players we had on loan I.E Bullard, Andrews, Campbell I'll be happy, We then Just don't wanna go sign him on a stupid two year deal and pay him huge money!!! In me I trust!!!

Wicked blue and blueboy - what are you basing mick mills being a master tactician on!? Good chat on the radio!? If you look at his managerial record, you'll see it ain't all that...

Plenty of pundits talk a good game but know zip about management...

syntaxerror - ........ simply SUCCESS - through entertaining Football, not ripping off Supporters / potential Supporters, thus potentially increasing the volume of support inside the ground, and making best use of our own youngsters when they are ready.

We have done it ALL previously - and before anyone says things are different now - we are still a potentially largish Club, the game is still FOOTBALL, and much is still exactly the same. So where's the problem ???
