Palace Still Interested in McGoldrick
Friday, 31st Jan 2014 11:34

TWTD understand that Crystal Palace have continued to show interest in Blues striker David McGoldrick during the final week of the transfer window.

The Eagles were linked with Town’s 26-year-old top scorer a fortnight ago and are the club most likely to make a move for McGoldrick prior to the January transfer window’s closure at 11pm tonight.

Last night, Swansea were reported to be ready to make a deadline day offer for McGoldrick, who has scored 14 goals this season, although they are now understood to have made a bid of £2.5 million for another striker, Leicester’s Jeffrey Schlupp.

The Blues were claimed to have put a price of £4 million on McGoldrick, who has 18 months left on his contract.

Meanwhile, Wolves striker Kevin Doyle, reportedly the subject of a rebuffed Town loan bid earlier in the week, is at QPR and is set to join them on loan.

Can only hope this doesnt happen.

Although i assume Mick has a replacement lined up incase? Unless the marriot loan would be canceled.

Beginning to look like we will be lucky to keep him. I suggest mm stops marriott from going anywhere

If MM has any sense he'll lock Mcgoldrick in the boot of his car until 23:01!

At least IF two clubs are interested in the player then we can use that to our advantage to get the very best deal possible.

rack off palace
it annoys me when people come in on the final day meaning any replacement has to be rushed through or we have to wait for the loan window.
fingers crossed he lines up against bolton tomorow as they are there for the taking

Although disappointing if he does indeed leave - I would hope we'd have a replacement lined up on a PERMANENT basis and for a fee - rather than a free or loan.

Possibly why Doyle was on the radar but hope McGoldrick does not go he has been superb for us. Was hoping we could get Hennessy but not at £3m.

He won't go! He has only just settled to a club where the fans adore him.

I'd be surprised if he goes. As good as he is, he's not the striker to keep Palace up and they won't pay £4m for him any other clubs will surely wait til the summer when they'd pay less for him. It's more likely his agent 'creating' interest to get a better & extended contract as if he only has a year and a half left on current deal it'll be up for renegotiation this summer.

Unless MM secures ahigh scoring striker to replace him we'll end up in mid table

I feel a sensational swoop for Wickham brewing. Sell Mc Goldrick for £3million or so, loan Wickham with option to buy. If we get promoted there are clauses that give Sunderland more cash and we complete signing.

Hmm if McGoldrick goes, we'll be in big trouble.

We're already in desperate need of a decent striker to partner him as Taylor clearly isn't valued by MM (although talented), Murphy is very average at best (and won't score enough goals to push for the play offs) and Nouble, well I'm amazed the man is paid a wage to be a footballer - he's shocking!

I hope we keep McGoldrick, Ebanks-Blake returns from injury and stays injur free for the rest of the season and either; sign another decent striker or, bring Marriott back and give him some games.

Also hopeful we sign a half decent attacking midfielder as Luke Hyam is NOT the answer!

I don't think he'll go, he's been here less than a season! Palace will look elsewhere that's if you believe this.

McGoldrick is absolute class and if he leaves it will be a disaster for us.

Swap him for Gayle or say he's not for sale!

Where would losing McGoldrick leave our season with the window shut?

Smash the window! Stop jacking off over inflated transfers and leave it open until March like the old days!

He won't go. I'm more concerned that Barnsley managed to get Frimpong! How on earth did we lose out?
