McGoldrick Out for 10 Weeks Monday, 17th Feb 2014 12:53 Town’s play-off hopes have been dealt a serious blow with 16-goal top scorer David McGoldrick ruled out for around 10 weeks - all but the final week of the season - with a knee injury. The 26-year-old suffered the problem in the closing minutes of Saturday’s 0-0 home draw with Blackpool.
“Didz [McGoldrick] has suffered a partial tear of the medial ligament in his right knee,” physio Matt Byard told the club website. “He had an MRI scan this morning and will be wearing a brace for the next six weeks.
“After that, you are looking at the rehabilitation of around four weeks, so in all we’d expect Didz to be out for 10 weeks, which obviously takes us up to the last week of the season.”
Byard says there is better news regarding keeper Dean Gerken, who missed Saturday’s match with a stiff neck, and midfielder Paul Green, who took a heavy knock.
“Gerks has a neck strain but it’s improved today and if that continues, he should be fit to train later in the week,” he added.
“Paul took a bad kick on Saturday but again he should be fine for later in the week."
Midfielder Luke Hyam was forced off in the early stages of Saturday's game with a hamstring problem.

Marriott and Taylor...

This is a joke right? Has to be a joke... In any case, MM doesn't need to dip into the loan market imho. SEBs back, and he's a proven goalscorer at this level, provided he'll stay fit. I maintain Taylor is our most talented player so absolutely no excuse for MM not to play him, if he's not played he'll be gone in the summer. Taylor and SEB could rip up any team if they played together up front. Murphy as back up, and if any of them get injured then get Marriott back, sounds like he's a talent. It's time to try these partnerships out for next season, always thought the play-offs would be one season too early for us this year so should really focus our push for automatic next year. COYB!! Oh and also, Nouble can do one.

If anyone thinks MM is going to play attacking players v Leicester dream on lads.If we are lucky Murf or SEB up front on their own ie 451.I dont have a problem v LEIC away but to do this v Barnsley,Charlton or Blackpool at home is crazy.MM problem now is SEB fit and our lack of attacking players on the pitch.I cant see MM getting Marriot back or getting a striker in if SEB is not right maybe Paul green centre forward.

It's easy to say give Marriott a go but he was sent back to Woking due to lack of action in lower league.Big IF but SEB needs to find form and fitness prior to his injury. As for Taylor.....don't think he will be wearing the shirt to often between now and end of season.

Although this a problem short term it could help our long term development as a club as premierships clubs are unlikely to take a punt on him if he had a long term injury, so this could ward off potential buyers. But this also means we're likely to be seeing a lot more of Nouble unfortunately. Maybe a loan for Matty Fryatt too? ( would be a much better solution)

It would be a big gamble just to rely on SEB or Taylor, they haven't scored many so far! (yes limited opportunities...) I'd feel happier if we were able to get someone like Wickham or Fryatt on loan who've both scored goals this season whilst on loan in championship

Season was already over no chance of playoffs and no chance of going down , at least MM will be able to play his pet Nouble even more and he may aswell with the hoof ball tactics he employs as SEB and Taylor would be no use !!

Oh how I wish MM was a "glass half full" man ... he'd already have a backup plan in place for this kind of eventuality, and we would trust him to know what to do. It's horrible timing (not that there's a good time for something like this), and we can only hope that if it's a pride thing with him and Taylor, that he will do the right thing and swallow it to help the team progress!!

Bad news!! but we've been lucky so far this season regarding injuries to the front 2 (Murphy and McGoldrick) - personally felt the play-offs was edging away from us so it is a case of how high we can finsih now. Real shame as we were quite reliant on McGoldrick so who will score the goals now? Still don't think Mick will play Taylor as obviously something has gone on there between the 2 and SEB has had very limited time on the pitch so far, so maybe it's time for our dynamic midfield to finally step up when needed or the most probable outcome Mick dipping into the loan market.

Breaking news: Team sheet spotted at training ground today by an insider, he copied it word for word, keep it to yourself tho dont want Nigel Pearson getting hold of it: Gerken Chambo, Berra, Smith, Cresswell Richardson, Skusey, Hyam,Tabby Green, Mings Subs: Big Frank ( love that boy ) Loachy, Hammond, October, Wordy (might need his height) Lee (same reason) Murphy ( to defend corners last ten minutes )

@thebeat - not far from the truth, you also sound just like 'the gaffer' calling our lads Skusey, Tabby, Big Frank etc.

Play offs ??! - As a fan would you really want that this season ?? As an owner - of course but as a fan of Ipswich . I think another season in Championship with an 'improving squad ' is needed - I am sure I will get minused , it is not lack of ambition - it is realism - We have all seen an improvement in our plight over the last 15 months from rock bottom to now - But over the last month we have the seen the NEXT STEP is beyond us We are now at least a top half table team but with a very small and limited squad . MM has done good business with personnel and with this set back he has an opportunity to blood young Jack Marriott We are financially shot as a club so not much hope of any big wages going out on big players The teams above and around us all have some quality that we don't in midfield and/or up front - 'Dids' is the one class act in the team and the rest are all honest , 100percenters We need the 'unknown' and def Marriott would be a good shout Taylor is just not in MM plans - SEB - has it , MM likes him but is he Fit ? Not yet ... Nouble - Not the answer Lets put in Marriott , give him the experience with no pressure . We all just want abit more attacking intent and whilst he cannot guarantee that at least as a young player - in the Ipswich tradition - we should get him back and put him in . Looking fwd to leicester !! I am sure it will be better than last season !

Oh dear, this is very bad news. Can't see us making the play offs now. Nouble and lee are not the answer, whist SEB is some way off being match fit. Taylor is an option, but wonder if he is better suited to a wide role rather than central? Also, clearly Mick doesn't rate him. The problem with having a small squad is injuries and suspensions will cause issues. Time for Eans to take note perhaps. Our squad simply isn't big enough!

i dont see this as a major problem 1 man doesnt make a team plus seb gets to prove his worth and taylor might get more of a chance bring marriot back pair him upfront with seb got nothing to lose now. might be a blessing in disguise or wishful thinking.
