McGoldrick Missing From 18 at Derby
Saturday, 30th Aug 2014 14:09

Town striker David McGoldrick is missing from the 18 facing Derby County at the iPro Stadium this afternoon following reports that he is close to an £8 million move to Premier League Leicester City.

McGoldrick didn't travel with the rest of the squad yesterday having picked up a dead leg in training on Thursday, however, given the interest from the Foxes it seems unlikely that the Blues would have risked the 26-year-old if he had picked up a knock of any extent.

Elsewhere in the side, Mick McCarthy springs a few surprises by handing Jonny Parr his Blues debut and Teddy Bishop and Kevin Bru their full debuts with Tyrone Mings dropping to the bench and Cole Skuse missing from the squad having been ill overnight. Elliott Hewitt is also missing, having picked up a knock.

The Blues seem likely to match Derby's formation with Murphy the lone striker and Bru, Bishop and Hyam forming a central midfield three and Jay Tabb and Paul Anderson on the left and right respectively.

Derby: Grant, Christie, Keogh, Buxton, Forsyth, Eustace, Bryson, Hendrick, Ward, Russell, Martin. Subs: Roos, Shotton, Whitbread, Hughes, Dawkins, Best, Mascarell.

Town: Gerken, Parr, Chambers (c), Smith, Berra, Bru, Bishop, Hyam, Anderson, Tabb, Murphy. Subs: Bialkowski, Mings, Bajner, Henshall, McQueen, Clarke, Nouble.

"Dead leg" good one!

Glad to see Parr finally starting, and good to see Bru and Bishop handed full debuts, but why is Bartosz not starting. He deserves it, can't rely on Gerken, too error prone.

What did Tabb do right?

Well that seems to me quite clearly McGoldrick is on his way, does our owner have any ambition? Wouldn't be surprised if Mick was next to walk if the money isn't reinvested for the final two days, but we all know that's unlikely. As for Skuse, deservedly left out of the squad after his bad form. Great chance for Teddy Bishop today, however im pretty down beat and can't see anything but a loss today, prove me wrong boys. Coyb

Do you know what? I quite like that, other than Tabb.

Fingers crossed, good luck Teddy and Bru.

My heart sank when I read this. Also for the club to say that DM has a "dead leg" is insulting, we're not mugs. With 2 days left, even if we do get 8 million for McGoldrick, can we bring anyone in in time? Usually I'm more positive, but I'm skeptical. It's really, really worrying. Think it's harsh on Mings to get dropped, Parr will need to have a big game today. One positive from today is seeing Bishop start today however.

This club is a joke! Totally understand that it's probably a good business deal but come on give us fans a break. As a fan I'm gutted and devastated he's going but whatever must the other players be thinking? That dressing room must be so demotivated. It's gonna take a massive signing to boost the club, can't see it happening though.

Joke - end of!

No time to re-invest and goals are going to be even harder to come by now.

I was hoping Hewitt might come in today. Scored for Town's U21s and has looked solid so far this season.

Really hoping Bishop plays well too. Still think Bart should be in goal today.

We will have to label him "Sicknote" from now on then if he bruises that easily.

Get Walters back for season long while looking for a younger striker.

Im afraid that we are going to end up with a bunch of loanes when Mcgoldrick leaves.
Very sad if he leaves. My favourite Ipswich player and the only creative one

Giving us 2 days to find a replacement is a joke, if they wanted to but him why couldn't they have done it a few weeks ago and give us time to find a replacement

Sorry but have lumped on Derby earlier as I thought that McGoldrick would be left out.

Whilst MM is not to blame for this we have lost our two best creative players and our main goalscoring threat. Can't see anything else than a relegation scrap unless there has been a massive masterplan with 3or4 quality newcomers. Can't help think that our derby game at Carrow road will be our last for at least another 3 to 4 years.

Depressing.

If he goes, who the hell would anyone of decent quality would want to come to I.T.F.C. at the moment!
Going absolutely nowhere under this regime

Well if MCG goes I'll be doubled gutted. 1 coz ny mate's a foxes fan. 2 coz he's all the class we have. Jimmy Kebbe, Johnniesta, Chris Wood and 2 nire plz, that might soften the blow. It's not so much the sale (8 mill is swriius dosh for 1 good champ season) but the lack of time to do something with any funds (should mick be allowed) were is comments about ME deciding on offers a thinly veiled reference to an impending sale?
