Shrewsbury Boss No Fan of Town - Updated
Shrewsbury Boss No Fan of Town - Updated

Shrewsbury Town boss Micky Mellon is clearly no Town fan judging by his reaction to a reporter wearing a Blues scarf for the post-match interviews after the Shrews’ 1-0 home victory over Morecambe on Saturday.

Shropshire Star reporter Joseph Masi’s blue and white neckwear didn’t go down at all well with the League Two side’s manager as he prepared to give his assessment of the game.

Earlier today, Mellon provided a replacement scarf.

What a complete and utter tw-t! total dispespect for the town and the reporter, the town should write and ask for a written apology from the pig!

He sounds like one of those people who's spent a long amount of time surrounded by yes men laughing along at his jokes- he had that half smirk when he was talking waiting for everyone to break into slap him on the back and fall about in stitches

Thought he was quite right, the reporter shouldn't have any other team's scarf on. It's nothing against us, I imagine the reaction would be the same for any team. Someone pointed out that in the Chambers swearing interview the reporter is a Norwich fan. Happy for him to wear his scarf during an interview?

Oh come on, lighten up.

I can't take offence at this - I don't think it's anything personal against us.

Only bitter that the last time they beat us was 1987. Mind you, we have only played them once in 14 years ;-)

Seems like one of those guys where you can't tell when they are serious or mucking about.

There's only one MM!

Micky Mellon could learn a thing or two watching how the real MM deals with the media.

It's Magic you know - Ipswich and Norwich don't go...

Not taking offence but I believe in his position Mellon should have shown a little more diplomacy in the way he handled the situation. Why indeed shown that part of the video on Shrewsburys' Town TV.

Agree with the person who said that this is a non story. Nothing disparaging is said about Ipswich in the clip. Mellon only mentions Shrewsbury and if there is any insult ( which there is not ) it would be from the reporter. The suggestion of the Norwich supporter interviewing Chambers wearing his scarf is a good analogy.

funny though

perhaps someone should suggest he moves back north of the border if certain things shouldn't be on show out of their natural habitat

Thought it was really funny. We should get the club to send him a hat, gloves and scarf for Christmas.

Interesting, if he had been wearing a shirt and he's taken that off and thrown it in the floor would that have been ok? The reporter needs to grow a pair - he shouldnt have got his hands on the scarf, let alone been allowed to throw it on the ground! Have pride in and respect for your club!!

And the way he said Ipswich Town too, almost embarassed and apologetically!!

Christ some Ipswich fans don't half get offended do they, obviously you wouldn't wear scarves of other teams. Just imagine if Jonny Ogle was always wearing a nottingham forest scarf when interviewing Mick.
