Henshall Joins Blackpool on Loan
Friday, 9th Jan 2015 18:06

Winger Alex Henshall has joined Championship strugglers Blackpool on a month’s loan.

The 20-year-old has made four sub appearances and one start, in the Capital One Cup defeat at Crawley, since joining the Blues following his release by Manchester City in the summer.

Meanwhile, first-year pro Omar Sowunmi has joined Vanarama Conference North side Lowestoft Town on a month’s youth loan. The central defender previously spent time on loan with Braintree.

Probably a good move for all parties. See what he can do at Championship level. Thought he looked a good player from what I have seen during brief appearances, but currently tricky to get into our midfield.

Sounds like a good move for all parties. Gains Championship first team experience and match fitness for if he's recalled. I had wondered if he may be loaned out after not featuring in the cup at Southampton.

I echo the above comments about it's good for him to gain experience, but I'm really disappointed he's not had more of a chance in our first team. He was, is my opinion, our outstanding player pre-season, he's very creative and quick. A little inexperienced but he deserved a place in our squad in our early games. Good luck Alex.

Should be good for all involved. May give an indication as to his ability in a Chanpionship team with a view to a decision on his future. Is there a recall option?

Will give him chance to get games, but I was excited by the signing of henshall on the summer. Hope he won't go the same way as veseli. Mick obv saw enough of him during his loan/extended trial last season to sign him. He is quick and direct, but perhaps doesn't do the defensive side so well. If only mick could realise an out and out winger shouldn't always need to defend

Nowhere near good enough at this moment in time in my opinion. Watched him at Crawley and he did not overly impress and in the under 21 games he has not stood out although I do like his pace. Pace however is no good if you don't have an end product. He made cameo appearances against Birmingham Norwich and Brighton but hardly been seen since. I think Cameron Stewart is in front of Henshall now so hope Blackpool can develop him further but preferably in the 1st team.

Reminds me of Leicester when they loaned out fringe players to other championship outfits, shows strength in depths and keeps squads fit. Ipswich showing competitiveness off the field with a deep squad

Very few players who are loaned out by mick come back and make regular appearances in the first team. Matter of fact I can't think of any
So very much doubt we will be seeing Mr henshall back at portman road.

Another ex-Manchester City player heading down the slippery slope...wish him all the best though!

He was very good in the second half against Derby at their place. Gets him some more proper, competitive experience under his belt.

For those asking, I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to recall a player from loan within the first 28 days.

If he helps get a few points off Watford, Wolves and Norwich, comes back fighting fit and giving MM a headache it will be an inspired move.

The standard loan contract means a player can't be recalled in the first month but can be recalled from the second month.

Hope he proves himself, hopefully in time will become an asset. As we all know, Mick expects the full package from players, that includes tracking back etc.

Shrewd move by MM. Alex Henshall look what a good football club you are contracted to. If you work hard you may have a future here, if you don't the teams like Blackpool are the best you can expect to play for!

Hope he makes it but agree Cameron Stewart ahead of him as hasn't stood out for under 21's
