Bru and Oar Back for Fulham Trip
Monday, 14th Dec 2015 14:19

Kevin Bru and Tommy Oar have joined the rest of the squad for the trip to Fulham ahead of Tuesday’s game at Craven Cottage, while manager Mick McCarthy says winger Ryan Fraser is fit enough to start matches and Teddy Bishop continues to make progress. Larsen Touré remains sidelined with a groin injury, however.

Bru has missed the last three games with a hamstring problem, while Oar has been unavailable for the last two matches with a knee injury.

“Kevin Bru’s travelling and Tommy Oar’s travelling,” McCarthy said. “Bish is training and he’s had no complaints about anything, which is great. It’s good to have the two lads back. And everybody’s fine [after Saturday].”

Scotland U21 international Ryan Fraser was back in the squad on Saturday having returned to Town from parent club AFC Bournemouth, where he had undergone his rehab after his knee injury, the day before.

McCarthy says the 21-year-old is fit enough to start games, but hinted that he would be on the bench at Craven Cottage.

“He’s ready to start a game, no question,” the Town boss added. “Watching him, he’s been terrific in training over the last few days.

“Complete 90 minutes? That’s another thing altogether but he can start, he’s sharp and strong enough and completely injury free.

“He’s trained brilliantly. But I’ve just spoken to him and said ‘Look, we’ve been playing well and winning’ and he understands. He’s back and he’s ready to go. If I need him, he can play.”

Larsen Touré is still out with his groin injury but McCarthy says that was to be expected: “Larsen was always going to be three or four weeks, he really hurt his groin. Hopefully he’ll be OK.”

Luke Varney is continuing his comeback from the ruptured achilles he suffered while on loan with the Blues during the play-off semi-final in May.

McCarthy says the 32-year-old, a free agent following his release by Blackburn in the summer, will travel with the squad to Fulham with talks regarding his Town contract continuing.

“They’re ongoing," McCarthy said. "He trained with the first team today and he’s travelling with us today just to come to the game.

“The lads he’d be training with are off tomorrow and then we’ll have a decent group training with on Wednesday.”

very strong squad now..

MM will find it difficult picking his best 18 but expect he will start the same team after the MK dons win.

with Bishop, Toure and Varney coming back in the New Year we could really push on

We have absolutely not been playing well Mick. We've been sticking to the briefed task at hand. There's a big difference between doing your job as per the tactics board and playing well. We're dogged, determined and tough to breakdown. We barely put enough passes together to play at all, let alone well.

Saying that, i did see you let Cole Skuse get into the penalty box on Saturday so we are making progress...

Playing well? Are you having a laff MM. Im sorry, but i just cant agree with that. Our performances are boring, one dimensional and quite frankly abysmal. Hard working definitely, but of good quality. Lol, not a chance.

Keaneish - Skuse is now a major doubt for Fulham, due to severe nose bleed!

Our squad certainly looks a lot better with Bru, Fraser and Bishop seemingly ready to make a return. If we can get back to playing the same way we were at the start of the season, which was a marked improvement on last season and saw us win games. Fulham are there for the taking tommorow night ahead of some tough games coming up

As most supporters we lack a RB and creative midfield player Transfer window open January couple good additions let a few leave like MM has already started and who knows Are we better than last season ? Yes Is the squad good enough to gain promotion ? No not yet Note Bournemouth have just beaten Chelsea and Utd they did not beat us last season

God you lot are embarrassing, we are top of the form table, of course were playing well.... MK Dons wasn't the greatest game to watch but we got the job done. I'm guessing you lot weren't at Rotherham where we were exceptional, I just don't understand how any one can have any negativity when we have the best squad, manager and position for a decade.

Just as well we have an experienced, savvy and intelligent manager at our club rather than the FIFA16 and Football Manager laptop experts here. It's clear by now that MM is a great man-manager, current and former players, as well as other managers and professionals have all said it. Only a small batch of our own fans choose not to believe it (because their expertise has come from either winning the Premier League in 2018 on FIFA16 with Carlisle United or because they pick the team for the local Under 12's).

Clearly, the bigger picture is having a squad of players all understanding that it is a long season and (like Gerks) he will encourage and support players if they are honest and committed, and he won't drop them on a whim.

So Pitman scored on the weekend - should we drop him with Sears going up front so that Fraser can start? Or should Sears be dropped? Or maybe AMN?

What would that do to any of those players who have all been playing well if Fraser comes straight back from injury and straight into the team??

MM knows better. Fraser wouldn't expect to go straight in after such a long time out. But still MM has a word and makes sure everything is okay. There's no doubt in anyone's mind that Fraser will get back in the first 11 at some point soon, he's been excellent for us.

But it seems the laptop experts on here (similarly to how they want us playing like Brazil and walking all over every team in this poxy little league) want it NOW! or by God they'll throw their toys out of the pram and whinge all day.

McCarthy isn't one to show the opposition his hand before the game. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Fraser starts and that comment is a smoke screen.

Like town4life think he will start with same 11,and with Micks record cant see him changing any of the players in the near future as he didn't in the lean run.

From his remarks therefor it looks like Didsy,Fraser and Bru will just get a few cameo appearances between them in the near future;as MIck was very pleased with the performance as well as the result on Saturday.

Do you agree Ipswichman, and are you happy with this scenario?

Please , please ,please can Mick tell Gerks to pass the ball out to one of our own players. It does not matter which players are coming back , if the ball is consistently thumped up the field to the opposition ,we are going to find it difficult to win games. We are one of the top scoring teams but also one of the highest conceding teams.Against MK Dons ,nearly every goalie kick was given back to the Dons ,putting us under pressure.

Great that players are gradually coming back and they will undoubtedly feature in due course. Tomorrow however MM will stick to the same line up as Saturday I am sure and I agree with that stance. Fraser will be a terrific player to bring off the bench at Fulham if needed, and the same can be said of Bru. Watching McGoldrick on Saturday he is clearly not yet fit and I worry if he will be the same player of the past. His sprint when clear in the second half was concerning to say the least. Cannot agree that Fulham are there for the taking as they blow hot and cold and certainly have goals in them. Mick will no doubt tell us it will be a tough game and I think it will be.

Blimey some of the comments here you'd have thought we were in the relegation zone!

Fact is, we're winning points away from home at the moment. I couldn't care less about how we're doing it, but we've found a system and way of playing that's working and that's what Mick is saying he'll continue with. Hard to argue against that.

After this we've got a tricky few games, and quite honestly I don't care how we're winning points as long as we're getting them.

You are hilarious Bohslegend. MM regularly drops people who have played well in a game/s when his favourites return from suspension/injury and has done continually since he has managed us. Something you overlook in your post.

We're crying out for some quality going forward in that midfield. If you watched us regularly you'd understand. Many of the experts you say have no credible opinion on here do actually watch most games, which in my opinion make their opinion much more valuable than yours.

It would be really harsh on Pitman but I can see MM starting Fraser sooner rather than later. Imagine Sears, AMN and Fraser roaming around Murphy as an interchangeable three. All three can take people on, have pace, creativity and a goal in them. Bru alongside Skuse may improve our woeful passing stats also. 26 games to go, anything can happen...

john betts we are 6th in he league we have played 20 games - we have just won 3 way games - MM is right why change the team?

He had a 'shot' too YorksBlue. Nearly added to his 1 goal in 110 appearances believe it or not!
But nosebleed or not, the MoM award will make sure there's a nice comfy, cosy spot for him in front of the back for the trip to the Cottage.

Beattiesballbag added 17:55 - Dec 14
Although I would prefer to see Sears in the middle where he is at his most dangerous, Sears Pittman Murphy & Fraser all have a bigger goal threat than AMN , plus as I think MM finds it easier to drop the youngsters,( "your time will come " Bla Bla,) poor old AMN looks most likely to take the hit now Fraser is back.

bohslegend ......... your bias towards the man is incredible - he just has to be a very close relation.

No other words could describe, or account for it.

Not much chance of any change but great to see bench with more quality. I thought AMN was stuggling in last game so Bru or Fraser would be ideal to start and of course love to see Bish given 10 mins before end of year.
