Dyer Joins Burnley
Monday, 15th Feb 2016 18:01

Former Blues target Lloyd Dyer has joined Burnley, signing a contract to the end of the season.

The 33-year-old winger held talks with Town but, as reported last Tuesday, the two parties were unable to agree a deal.

Former Leicester and West Brom man Dyer left Watford a fortnight ago after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Disappointing that the two parties were unable to reach a deal as that makes me wonder just what exactly Dyer's party were asking for.

For the record, I was actually hoping this deal would go through. No, Dyer's not the same player he was when he was helping Leicester get promoted, but he does still have quality plus that promotion experience to boot. Not sure what this tendency is among some fans to immediately write a player off once they go past about 32 or go a bit quiet for a couple of years. What if we'd done that with Murphy?

As per the deals under Keane and Jewell that fell through due to personal terms I suspect it was us who offered minimal wages and he's gone elsewhere. Good luck to him, Burnley will at least finish in the play offs and have a gd chance of winning them

We didn't need Dyer. We are good enough (require younger hungrier type) some of our squad just need to realise how good they are...

Not a surprise he has probably watched us and realised he will be told to tuck in. If he gets the ball in our half boot it up the channel and hope we might win a second ball. No surprise, another, actually any other club might be more appealing. Plus I guess we have already spent the Cresswell Mings money on MM and TC wages

Good luck to him. At this stage of his career, he needs a good deal for himself and family. Looking at the likes of Coke, Toure, the Polish fella etc, it's fairly clear that we primarily do cheap in terms if Championship wages. I'm not overly disappointed, but it again shows our lousy budget isn't competitive enough. Fear not, Evans will still charge premium prices!

Was more off than on with Brum last season. Have not played a game this season. Sounds like too much of a gamble to me. Hopefully we will bring in one or two players within Hull.

I think it was just to tick a box that ITFC have to look at any out of contract winger available.

@elburto Do you seriously think MM will bring anyone in ??? Apparently we've got the strongest squad since he has been here and there is no one available better than what we have. Except Col U Ressies by the looks of things !!

I thought most of the posts last week about Dyer were negative so how come all this so called disappointment that we haven't signed him ? No point paying over the odds for someone who is average at best.

I was told by a friend who works in football ( Not a Steward!) that we are known for paying low wages in comparison to others in the league. Not surprising considering we stick to ffp

Simple: Money talks-but not for us.

Can't believe some of the comments by so called fans on this site. It's probably a simple case of a better/richer team with premier league failure money being able to offer significantly more in wages than we can. Unfortunately that sort of thing is only going to get worse with the increased revenue from the new TV deal so we're going to have to get used to it. Having said that you can't blame the player. If anyone is offered double the wages to go elsewhere he's going to take it.

Reckon he saw us play and realised he would get neck ache most of the time. Be realisti, if you were (at33) offered 12k a week to play hoofball at a club disappearing down the league or 10k to join a premier league club from last season who could easily be heading back there what would yo do. We can't attract players who are wanted by anyone else due to our style of football and the fact that we can't get better than we've got so anyone coming in is going to be a sub behind our group of utter dross.

Good luck Lloyd you've chosen correctly as much as it pains me to say it. We're doomed with this administration. We've massively over achieved but actually we've achieved nothing... Next season, with this team, we will get out of this league, but it won't be upwards !!!

Dead right Plebbs. So good to see some proper fans realising how far we have fallen.
Leicester, Soton and the Scum all got relegated to League 1 to get rid of an appalling culture of bad football, bad players and bad management, and look where they are all now.
I would happily take a season or 2 in Div 1, if we got rid of Evans, Mick and most of the aging journeymen Mick has signed. Trust the youths like Bobby and Burley did, get a proper football man into running the club, not the corporate fat man Milne.

And there are some good British managers about. Even Sherwood would be better then the dross we have now.

I love how negative everyone is on here, pontificating about why Dyer signed for Burnley?

Personally I don't care, I have been a Town fan since I was 6, nearly 54 years and as an adult I travelled all over the UK and Europe watching them at their best and their worst.

I am Ipswich through and through, of course I want better times, but FFS we are just outside the play off places, still in with a chance, after our last promotion we could have disappeared altogether like Pompey, but we have stayed and fought through difficult times. The club obviously has financial difficulties still and has to work within them.

I'm proud to be a Town fan and even if they put out 11 donkeys, I will still cheer them on. Get over yourselves!!

Don't believe there are a few donuts on here showing signs of sour grapes.. That is quite sad indeed, and shows how our standards are lowering. Give your heads a shake and aim high, then higher

The vast majority on here didn't want Dyer when he was linked anyway but unsurprisingly it doesn't stop several on here from complaining when he joins somebody else. Cant help but think lots of people on here love a good moan just for the sake of it
