McCarthy: Feeney's Even More Talented Than I Thought Saturday, 19th Mar 2016 06:00 Town boss Mick McCarthy says new addition Liam Feeney has looked an “even more talented” player than he had thought he was since joining the Blues on loan for the rest of the season this week. McCarthy says the 29-year-old, who is set to make his debut against Rotherham at Portman Road today, is a player who has often impressed him against his sides: “For a long time he’s always played well against my teams. We’ve watched him before, I liked him when he was at Millwall. “He’s a resilient player, he’s played a lot of games and he’s a real threat because of his pace. “I thought he was excellent against us up at Bolton, playing up front, playing a different role. “He joined in training this morning and I watched him and he’s a much better player, a more talented player than just being an out and out winger with a lot of pace. I’m suitably impressed with him.”
The loan move gives Feeney, who is out of contract in the summer, a chance to impress and win a permanent deal with Town or elsewhere. “With somebody, of course, and we’re in the best place and he’s in the best place in terms of looking at one another,” McCarthy added. “He’ll assess us and we can assess him. “But what I have signed is a tried and tested Championship player, who has been resilient over his career, has played games, knows the division and is a real threat. I’m delighted with that and we can both have a look at each other for next season.” Photo: Action Images via Reuters Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
