Town Unchanged Against Charlton
Tuesday, 5th Apr 2016 19:08

Town boss Mick McCarthy has named an unchanged side for tonight’s home game against Charlton.

The Blues could line-up in the 4-3-3 system they utilised during Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Wolves but, with Charlton playing 4-4-1-1, may well switch to 4-4-2 with Ben Pringle moving to the left from his weekend central role ahead of Cole Skuse and Jonathan Douglas with Liam Feeney on the right and Freddie Sears up front alongside Brett Pitman.

Teddy Bishop returns to the bench for the first time this season, alongside David McGoldrick, who made his first appearance since mid-December as a sub late on at Molineux.

The Addicks include one-time Town schoolboys Nick Pope in goal and Morgan Fox at left-back and ex-Blues loanee Stephen Henderson on the bench.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Smith, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Douglas, Pringle, Feeney, Sears, Pitman. Subs: Gerken, Foley, Hyam, Bru, Bishop, Varney, McGoldrick.

Charlton: Pope, Solly (c), Fanni, Teixeira, Fox, Diarra, Cousins, Gudmundsson, Lookman, Harriott, Sanogo. Subs: Henderson, Motta, Suk-Young, Lennon, Jackson, Vetokele, Makienok. Referee: Oliver Langford (West Midlands).

The bench certainly looks much stronger. Douglas aside, it's a strong side for a home game.

HAHAHAHAHA WOW OKAY!

I cannot stand this man in charge now and it's got to the point I am beginning not to care now. Season is over if we lose or even draw. Most negative manager we have had at our club in years. Again, choosing Douglas and Skuse together is beyond belief. What an arrogant ****!! I would never want our team to lose, but if it involves getting this complete idiot out of the dugout then so be it! Where is the service coming from in the middle? What a joke, so furious!!

Next season, fresh manager with an attacking philosophy and attractive style of football would be lovely, but will it happen? I very much doubt it.

On a positive note, welcome back Teddy!!

Strong side for a home game, are you having a laugh. This team played at Wolves, they were very poor and we could not score a goal. Should be skuse only for a home game, do not worry about them, we should be worrying about us because we find it very, very difficult to score two goals. Anybody but Douglas or hyam. What has foley done wrong?

Don't usually post on here but it's worth mentioning the fixtures. Derby v Hull and Burnley v Cardiff. Win today can really put us back in the mix.

Now we have Teddy and Mcgoldrick we have a good chance of making the playoffs. Anything can happen. Granted the football has been s**t but I seem to remember us slapping Palace 3-0 just before they got promoted. Think some fans are a little fickle on here sometimes. Three wins and three good performances and we will all be singing super Mick again.

Granted if we lose tonight then yeah sure we've f****d it and Micks a stubborn dinosaur. Thin margins in football.

So Micks gone for the same side that performed so abysmally in an attacking sense on Saturday ...... marvelous.
Definition of madness ...... doing the same thing over & over expecting a different result ......

Tractorboy1, i certainly won't be singing MM's praises even if we thrash Charlton & I will not watch another match under his Managership. MM shouldn't be allowed near a football pitch.

It's about time teams were banned from coming to Portman Road and shutting up shop with 2 goalkeepers.

You've heard of the saying "never change a winning team"..

Mick's philosophy seems to be "never change a drawing team".
