Friday, 17th Mar 2017 14:17

Academy midfielder Tristan Nydam has been added to the England U18s squad, which already includes his Blues team-mate Andre Dozzell, for their friendlies in Doha, Qatar.

Nydam comes in as a replacement for Fulham’s Dennis Adeniran, who has picked up an injury.

It's the first time the 17-year-old has been named in an England U18s squad and he is yet to win a cap at any other level, although he was on standby for the U17s last season.

The Zimbabwe-born, Colchester-raised youngster, who can also play at left-back, came on as a sub for the first team in the pre-season friendly at Cambridge and was on the bench for the match at Huddersfield in January but is yet to make his competitive senior debut.

Excellent news. Good young players getting recognition.

Nydam and Dozzell are good enough to play for England u-18s, but not good enough to make our match day squad against Cardiff? Are Skuse, Douglas and Diagouraga really so much better than them?
