Town Make Bid for Bunn
Thursday, 3rd Aug 2017 14:42

TWTD understands Town have now made a bid for Huddersfield winger Harry Bunn.

Reports earlier in the week claimed the Blues were ready to make a move for the 24-year-old, who is said to be valued at around £600,000, and we understand a firm offer has now been made.

Bunn has been in Austria with the Terriers squad ahead of their first ever Premier League season but was left out of the squad which drew 3-3 with VfB Stuttgart in a friendly on Tuesday without explanation.

The 5ft 9in tall wideman started his career with Manchester City during which time he spent time on loan at Rochdale, Preston, hometown club Oldham, Crewe, Sheffield United and Huddersfield, who he subsequently joined on a permanent basis in January 2014.

Since that switch Bunn, the son of ex-Oldham frontman Frankie, has made 70 starts and 28 sub appearances, scoring 17 goals.

Primarily a left-sided winger although right-footed, Bunn can also operate centrally in midfield or in a more advanced role behind a main striker.

While a fourth striker remains a priority for Town, wide midfield is another area where there Blues have been looking to strengthen. You can Read Mullet’s TWTD blog on Bunn here.

Right footed?
Looks to be kicking pretty well with his left in the photo.
Might even 'have two feet' as they say.

It's a bunny old world. So now Mick's got 4 wide men but no striker over 5' 9".

I agree that Garner could be good signing having seen him in action but if Mick persists with hoofing then he's going to have tough time. Nash has shown that we have the players that can keep possession but Mick treats ball like hot potato. Just hope Barnes is still coming

Need a couple of improving signings at least.. Our scouts and coaches seem to be a bit slow of the mark for that

We need to strengthen this squad and signing Bunn would be a positive first step. Frankly, business should have been completed by now. We desperately need another striker and arguably a replacement for Berra.

For some reason I think Bunn would be a perfect accompaniment to a Bru. I'll put the kettle on.

I remember his Dad in the 90's, if hes anything like him then we have a good signing.

We really need to get this deal done even if it involves bunns in a brown paper bag.

Any idea if this is the mystery Prem striker we have bid for or is this in addition?

Suspect/assume it is but living in hope.....

He will need to prove himself or the deal will seem a little flat.

When he puts decent delivery into the box will the headline be "Hot cross Bunñ" ?

I will get my coat......

Obvious but we need a twenty plus goalscorer to be in with any chance of the play-offs.

The puns are great but the relegation battle starts Saturday! If we sign 'Hot Cross' how many games before tactical genius Mick turns him into a 'lost' defensive wing back? In the last 3 years I can only recall 1 pull back from the goal line and a goal resulting. Hews scoring against Newcastle last season! We sign wingers every pre season and they all disappear into the wilderness! I hate being so negative but I threw the rose coloured spectacles away when Keane was appointed!

The lads utility would have drawn McCarthy to this possible signing! Don't be foolhardy to assume,if signed, he will play on the WING!!!!!

Still think one of the best ever player puns was

Mills bomb (for our older readers)

At the rate this is going, we might end up being probably the only side in history to play with two wingers..........on both sides of the pitch! Might confuse the opposition at least. Of course what could well happen is, we will revert to three at the back and two wing backs, thus ruling out the need for any wingers at all!

I think this will be a good signing, but only re-enforces the positions we already have covered (Celina, Rowe, Ward Sears and now Bunn).
As mentioned by many of you others we need a striker, a CB and a creative central midfielder.
As it currently stands from last season we have lost 13 players (14 if you include Bru) and have to date only added 4 in Celina, Garner, Adeyimi and Iorfa.
We done some good early business but have stagnated in recent weeks when we needed to kick on and get these players. it is now less than 48 hours to KO and we are scraping around for additions to an already thin squad.
After Charlton last week expect MM to play a 5 man defence on Saturday (5-4-1 or 5-3-1-1)

He is a good player at Championship lvl...

Will do well for us ( Hopefully)

We will find a striker but don't wanna rush into getting one...

Can't wait for season to Start...

Huddersfield spent £3ml so teams can go up on small budget...
