Bru Considering Offers From France and Elsewhere
Monday, 14th Aug 2017 10:36

Out-of-favour midfielder Kevin Bru says he has had several offers from clubs in France and elsewhere with his time at Town set to end this summer.

Mauritius international Bru, 28, is out of manager Mick McCarthy’s plans having been told he could move on if he was able to find another club at the end of last season.

The former Levski Sofia man, who joined Town after a successful trial in the summer of 2014, was subsequently not given a squad number for 2017/18.

Speaking to Mauritius-based 5plus Dimanche, Bru confirmed that he is in the process of looking for another club.

"I want to leave Ipswich Town to go somewhere else,” he said. “I talked with coach McCarthy and agreed that I could leave if I get an offer from another club.”

Bru featured for the Blues during pre-season and says he wants to be up to speed if and when he signs for another club.

"I do not try to regain the confidence of the coach after having talked with him,” he added. “I knew what to expect before resuming training with the club this summer.

“My objective is to train as much as possible to be physically ready if I am forced to change clubs during the transfer window.

“I have had offers from France and abroad. I am waiting to make the right choice. If nothing happens I have one year of my contract left at Ipswich.”

Paris-born Bru, who qualifies for Mauritius via his parents, made 59 starts and 35 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring four goals.

Best of luck Kevin! Some great memories of your time here. Brentford and that Bolton goal in particular. Seems the right thing for all parties.

I expect we will end up paying up most or all of his contract. Pity we offered him such a long deal. Oh well, it's good to have so many new midfield options... when fit. Here's hoping Downes isn't out too long.

I hope he stays in England. I'd like to see how he does if he was to play regularly in a team and think he could do well.

Decent player. Not sure he got the chances he deserved. Good luck, Kevin.

Not sure he got the chances he deserved?? He played 94 times ffs!! Could never finish a game, poor goal return, never took control of a game, too lightweight, yes a player in there somewhere, he can spot a pass etc, but just not at Ipswich, good luck to him wherever he ends up, but if he stays put on his salary says all about him imp.

Not sure we got the best out of him and would fit better in a more ambitious side, but I don't think he's a potential world beater either. Let's not forget that we plucked him from relative obscurity in the first place and he's played nearly 100 games for us. Did ok overall but I agree with Smithy, if he now sees out his contract here at 28 years of age when he has other offers on the table to go and play football, it says a lot about him.

Always the term ' flattered to deceive ' applied to Kevin. Decent player but didn't produce often enough in my view. Hope he gets something elsewhere soon for his benefit as well as the clubs.

I too would be interested to see him in a footballing team. Does seem very average sometimes though, never really put in a 10/10 performance.

Shame it hasn't worked out.

Good luck Kevin!

Always looked a decent player, a shame it hasn't worked out here and we wish you nothing but success in the future.
