Moore Nets Brace to Take Total to Eight
Saturday, 23rd Sep 2017 20:38

On-loan Blues striker Kieffer Moore took his season’s tally to eight goals, netting twice as Rotherham United thrashed Oldham Athletic 5-1 at the New York Stadium in League One.

The 25-year-old, who is with the Millers for the season although with the Blues able to cut the spell short in January, scored in the 73rd and 78th minutes as the South Yorkshiremen hit five for the third time in their five home games this season.

Blues right-back Josh Emmanuel wasn’t involved having played 90 minutes for Rotherham’s reserves on Tuesday after recovering from a toe injury.

Elsewhere, Adam McDonnell and George Fowler both played the full 90 minutes as Aldershot drew 2-2 at home to Leyton Orient in the Vanarama National League. The result saw the Shots drop to second in the table.

Central defender Chris Smith made his debut for his loan club Chelmsford City, who he joined on Thursday, as 72nd minute sub as the Clarets drew 0-0 away against Poole Town in the National League South.

Good to see a loan spell working out so well... benefitting Moore, Rotherham and Town as well - definitely a win win win situation far more than it would've been having him sat on our bench!

After being slated by some last season I'm glad he's finding the back of the net. Give him this season in league one, he'll come back knowing he can do it and could be a very good addition to the squad. I'd take up the year option on his contract now don't want to see him walk away for free like Berra did!!!

blue75 - couldn't agree more. Crazy decision to let Berra go on a free (unless it was a prior gentleman's agreement), and an absolute no brainer to take up the year option on Moore.

No doubt a lot easier for him in a lower league but also goes to prove if you give him a supplier he can score goals.

Bring him back in January as his height could be a real plus.

We were being told by some experts that he wasn't good enough for non-league, another example of looking for negatives and being way off the mark.

I saw Moore on sky sports playing for Rotherham at Portsmouth his hold up play and linking with the midfield was excellent, plus is work rate was very good, which would please MM. I know it's a lower league but with the goals he is scoring at the moment will boost his confidence and it can only benefit us in the future.

I've been pro Moore from the off so I'm obviously delighted that he seems to be progressing. Some players just have that natural ability when it comes to finding the net and I hope Moore has this. He brings options to a team with his natural attributes and I hope to see him back if he does continue in the same vein.

I have to say I only saw him at Forest and thought he looked immobile, ineffective and not even good in the air. But like everyone I would love nothing more than him staying the season there and banging in 30 goals and then we either take him back he's ready for Championship, or we can sell him for £1m+. If he keeps scoring at this rate he will be worth £2-3m soon!

Hopefully he is progressing well & we will see the potential McCarthy saw. Even Harry Kane would have struggled to score with towns midfield from last season
