Charlton, Scunthorpe and Bradford Linked With Moore
Friday, 29th Dec 2017 10:29

Charlton Athletic are reported to be one of a number of clubs keen to sign Blues striker Kieffer Moore, who is currently on loan at Rotherham, during the January transfer window.

According to the South London Press, Addicks boss Karl Robinson had Moore and Preston’s Eoin Doyle, who has been on loan at Oldham, top of his list of potential additions to his attack but with the latter now reportedly sidelined for a lengthy spell due to a blood clot.

Scunthorpe and Bradford City are also said to be among the clubs who have been eyeing the pair, while the Millers have already confirmed they will make an offer during January and other sides in League One and the Championship are also understood to be interested.

Town boss Mick McCarthy has previously said he plans to recall Moore in January, while MD Ian Milne played down the likelihood of the Blues looked to sell the 25-year-old during the window.

Moore, who was signed from Forest Green Rovers for £20,000 last January, is contracted to Town until the end of the season with the Blues having an option for a further year.

Why would we be considering selling strikers when most games when we need a different attacking option we end up putting Freddie Sears on? Wouldn't be surprised if Moore ends up taking Garner's spot...

Bring him back, play him up top with garner/McG. We've been crying out for someone with a bit of physical presence up top since Murph left. And no, I don't mean so that we can play long balls up to him, the simple fact is that none of our current strikers can bully defenders. Him up top with someone alongside and Celina and Waghorn our wide would be a nicely balanced front line that would be able to break down defences...against qpr we struggled because no one was getting in the middle and causing their defence problems, plenty of crosses going in and no one on the end of them. Would love to see him given a proper chance...he's only 25 and has been scoring goals for fun in League 1, exactly what we need!

Where'd you get that quote from, Rensham?

We are crying out for an alternate option up top . Take QPR game - we could have taken any of 3 strikers off , and he would add something different . It is def worth getting him back .
Mick will probably play him out wide though , so on second thoughts !

I just don't think Charlton, Scunthorpe or Bradford would be able to pay any sort of fee at all. Didn't MM say something about being happy to take the draw against QPR as they brought some big men on? Well, Moore is certainly that and would give us another option from the bench.

Play him in couple games in Jan see how he fairs and if hes not good enough sell him before window closes. He deserves another go considering what hes done for Rotherham this season so far.

All we needed against QPR WAS Celina!

How many strikers have we sold before ever giving them a chance only to see them banging goals in for other teams? It would be madness to sell him before giving him at least 20 games. If it doesn't work then lower league clubs will still want him, but if it does work then we could have a gem.

@Londonben. No one that can bully defenders? I thought that was was Garner was there for? I think that is all he offers anyway.

Give the lad a chance. We need to add to central mf and give Waggy some rest time: he looks tired like garner did a few weeks ago.

Realistically, what are the likes of Charlton, Bradford and Scunthorpe going to offer? Surely a 25-year-old striker who has been setting League 1 alight has to be worth around £500-750k, maybe more? I can't see any of the interested parties offering what I believe he is worth. Besides, whatever transfer fee we get is a drop in the ocean when club debt is heading towards £100m.

I would rather Moore is recalled and given a chance to prove himself here. If he doesn't quite cut it we can always sell him in the summer. I'm sure there will still be plenty of interest. If we're going to sell any forward player I would rather it was Sears.
