Bru Leaves Blues
Monday, 30th Apr 2018 15:06

Town have confirmed that midfielder Kevin Bru has left the club with his contract up at the end of the season.

The Mauritius international was told he was free to find himself another club at the end of 2016/17 but a move to Toulouse in his native France broke down on deadline day in August and he remained at Portman Road.

Town’s midfield injury problems meant he was subsequently handed a squad number and returned to the Blues squad, making four starts and six sub appearances.

In total, the 29-year-old, who joined Town in the summer of 2014 after a successful trial having left Bulgarian side Levski Sofia, made 62 Blues starts and 41 sub appearances, scoring four goals.

A return to France - perhaps to last summer's suitors Toulouse - seems Bru's next move.

Thanks for all your efforts, Kevin. D

Decent player but just doesn't have that bit of final quality that's needed in his position.

Good luck Kevin Bru, talented player, not made for English football unfortunately.

Lets start emptying this wage bag and undertake a proper overhaul at ITFC this summer. Exciting times ahead.

Good luck never fully appreciated what you did by some when discarded then came back to fill our injury ravaged midfield.

Cheers Kevin and all the best.

Not bad for a random trialist, a decent part in the play-off season of 2014-15 and some good games other than that. Not consistent or strong enough for this division but he'll leave us with some good memories.

Bruuuuuu! His goal away at Bolton in 2015/16 was brilliant. Best of luck for the future Kevin!

Whenever I've seen him in a blue shirt I always thought he put in an honest shift and although basically a fringe player never let the club down.

A little sad, technically talented but wasn't really suitable for the more physical Championship. No Premiership quality and dropping divisions would need a more physical presence. Could do well abroad and I hope he has developed new aspects to his game, but not really a match for what we need.

Was never suited to the rigours of Championship football. He's clearly a talented and technically sound player, you can tell he's been schooled at Clairfontain and he's no mug. I think he's better suited to other leagues in Europe where perhaps there's less emphasis on physicality and more on technical ability.

He's incredibly week and goes missing for long periods. Completely unable to stamp any authority on a game and generally adopted the role of passenger in his time here. Came across as lazy and disinterested on a number of occasions and horribly frustrating to watch him play. 100% the right thing to do to release him.

should never have been given a contract here.

Thanks for your service Kevin. You still have good years left ahead and I wish you well

You go with my good wishes Kevin.

A talented footballer with good technical ability, who like Jonny Parr was never suited to Mick McCarthy's way of playing;and unfortunately wont now get the chance to show what he could do under the new Manager

Never really good enough for our club but admirable the way he continued to fight for his place when told he was surplus...

I am surprised at this news. Bru has the talent and flair that the new manager might well have chosen to build the whole team around. The club may regret releasing a current international midfielder, a replacement is likely to cost many millions.

You must be kidding Jewells!?

Build a whole side around Bru!?

Surely on the wind up!?

This is going to hopefully be a summer of change. Good start. Bru is okay but never really pushed on.

Wish him all the very best, but would have thought many will follow.

His best games were as a substitute. Of all the trialists over the years I think he was the only one who progressed to a contract and regular squad player (I don't count Christophe Berra as a trialist)

Merci et bon chance Kevin...

Best of luck Kevin - always thought you were a decent player and tried your best every time you put on the shirt.

Like some other posts on here, I thought Kevin Bru was a half decent player and like some others we have had he never really had a decent run to show what he can do. I wish him good luck and I am sure he will make a living out of playing elsewhere.
