Town, QPR and Peterborough United are all reported to have agreed a fee with Accrington Stanley for striker Kayden Jackson.

The 24-year-old now has to weigh-up which of the three he wants to join ahead of Thursday’s 5pm deadline.

The League One side had been targeting a fee of £2.5 million for Jackson but will almost certainly have had to settle for somewhat less than that.

Jackson, who scored 16 goals in 48 starts and one sub appearance last season as Accrington topped League Two, previously played for Paul Hurst, albeit briefly, at Grimsby during a loan spell in the first half of the 2016/17 season before the Town boss moved on to Shrewsbury in the October.

Bradford-born Jackson started his professional career with Swindon following success in a 2013 Win a Pro Contract competition run by Samsung when a player with Albion Sports in the Northern Counties East League Division One.

While with the Robins, he had spells on loan at Swindon Supermarine and Oxford City, prior to stints with Tamworth, Wrexham and Barnsley before his loan with Grimsby and his permanent switch to his current club last summer.

Stanley chairman Andy Holt has confirmed that the Tykes would receive a percentage of the fee they would receive for Jackson.

The 5ft 11in tall frontman is contracted until the summer of 2019 but with Stanley having an option for a further season and can play in wide roles in addition to operating down the centre.

Meanwhile, former Town keeper Jacob Marsden has joined Hamilton Academical. The 21-year-old, who came through the academy before spending one year as a pro but without making a senior appearance, was released by the Blues in the summer of 2017.

mrmorisato added 23:47 - Aug 6 I don't like the fact that QPR have also had a bid accepted, they're a London club and London has a lot more to offer than Ipswich.....more shops, more activity, more attractions, more night clubs...Jackson could be someone that opts for the busy nightlife than rural quiet Ipswich :( It's a factor that has affected our recruitment before when bidding against other London clubs. I have my fingers and toes crossed as we're crying out for another striker and we only have 3 more days to find one.

GiveusaWave added 06:18 - Aug 7 QPR have made a fair few signings this transfer window so wouldn't rule them out due to FFP... 2 million does sound excessive for a striker who scored 16 goals in 45 league 2 appearances last season...especially when you consider that Brett Pittman scored 24 goals from 38 appearances in league 1. Obviously...stats aren't everything...but does make you wonder... If we don't sign him...we do need someone and it's difficult to see who we'd go for right now....

So the lad did take part in more than 30 goals, similar like Waghorn with us. I do think however 2m is a lot for a league two player but the football has gone mad a long time ago. If we don't want freebies and loans, this is the game we have to play.

itfctim added 08:26 - Aug 7 It's quite refreshing when (if) a sought after player, with options, chooses us amoung others, it shows that players are buying in to our managers plans for the club's future, and want to be part of it. That inspires us supporters too, the knock on effect goes right through the club. It's been a long time since positive vibes have outweighed negative ones at PR.

Never seen the guy play so in no position to judge, but the fee seems steep for someone who's knocked around the lower leagues without making any impact until scoring 16 goals in the 4th division last season.
