Town Looking for Academy Scouts
Monday, 22nd Oct 2018 18:51

Town are on the hunt for scouts to search for talented youngsters for the academy in Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Hertfordshire.

"“We are looking for people that want to be part of the academy experience and help support ITFC by identifying talent within our local community and further catchment areas,” academy manager Lee O’Neill told the club site.

“We have key development centres across Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex which have helped us identify many academy graduates down the years such as Kieron Dyer, Andre Dozzell, James Scowcroft, Darren Bent, Teddy Bishop, Darren Ambrose and many more.”

"The scouts will be looking for U7-U12 players for the Foundation Development Phase and U13-U16 players for the Youth Development Phase.

Youngsters in the U8-U11s age group have to live within a catchment area of 60 minutes’ drive from Town’s Playford Road training ground, IP4 5RQ, according to the AA Route Planner, and 90 minutes’ travelling time for the U12-U16s.

Scouts will be given two season tickets for Town first-team games as well as a club kit and be put on a bonus scheme. ""Contact phil.beale@itfc.co.uk to apply, with ‘Academy Scout’ in the subject line and including name, contact number, address, identification (passport or driving licence), DBS/CRB plus two references.

Those applying are also required to state their location area and leagues that they can scout as well as stating their current involvement in football and any relevant experience.

Two season tickets for the first team?!

That should put off all potential candidates.

You mean we don't have scouts on our doorstep already????

In Bobby Robson's days we had scouts all over the country. That's how we found the likes of Kevin Beattie in Carlisle, Alan Brazil in Glasgow, Eric Gates in the North East etc etc

A sad reflection of the sorry state our club is in.

Though I've no doubt we will still see the gormless telling us how much Evans is 'pumping in'.

Is there any point if Hurst won't play them when they become old enough for the first team squad??

Is the bonus scheme linked with how many home games you attend!!

Worth a go, cheap for the club and one bit of gold would be very cost effective.

Well done itfc

I've often wondered what our scouting network was like and now we have our answer. Pretty non existent and relying on fans to do it for them. Considering this is a huge part of the 5 point plan, you'd think we could pay to have proper scouts. I've seen several people on this forum say that Norwich scouts regularly attend youth games in the area but Ipswich are never present. Just another thing to add to the long list of problems at the club.

If they are good enough we get rid of them, the Budgies up the road seem to play there youngsters and getting just rewards.
