New Judge Bid Rejected Report
Monday, 22nd Jul 2019 10:35

Town are reported to have rejected a new bid of £450,000 from QPR for midfielder Alan Judge.

According to The Sun on Sunday’s Alan Nixon, the Blues have rebuffed the Championship’s side’s second offer for the Irish international but with the player said to be keen on the move.

QPR, managed by Judge’s former Brentford boss Mark Warburton, are previously understood to have made an offer of £250,000 for the 30-year-old.

Speaking on Friday Town boss Paul Lambert appeared to tacitly confirm the earlier bid but insisted that the Blues wouldn’t allow Judge, who only signed a new two-year contract in April, to depart for a derisory fee.

“There is no way he is going to leave this club for a value that in my opinion is nowhere near his true worth," he said after the friendly victory at Colchester.

“If we let him go to QPR who do we get in? Everybody has a value, absolutely, but there’s got to be a bit of realism.

"The football club got Alan going again and made him play consecutive games. We gave him a great opportunity. He did well for us last season but we did well for him.

"It’s a two-way thing and there’s no chance he is going to just walk out the door.”

Judge is yet to appear for the Blues in a pre-season friendly due to the broken wrist he suffered while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland last month.

Did they forget to add the extra 0 at the end?

If Judge wants out there's little we can do about it, except hope for a decent price. He's undoubtedly a good player but did he actually do that much for us at the back end of last season?.

Oh Christ this is going to drag on all summer until the last week of the transfer window when QPR finally make an acceptable bid, we sell Judge, and get no replacement in.

One of those deals which seems to make little sense for most parties involved. We lose a player who would be vital for us next season, and you can bet the money received won't be reinvested in the squad. QPR get a player who seemingly none of their fans want as it smacks of the club trying to replace Luke Freeman on the cheap.

Judge signed a new contract in March/April when he knew we were going down. Therefore playing in League 1 is not an issue for him as he has said previously. Unless QPR bid silly money (1.5 to 2 million) then we should not sell. He is key for us this coming season. Remember Championship transfer window closes in under 2 weeks now so this could intensify but we should stand firm and not sell.

Why don't the club reply; Sorry hes not for sale unless you pay X amount.
The bottom line is he cant be replaced for say 2m.
These 250, 450 bids are ridiculous.

Player wants to go? Get rid then, next

ME or Lambert need to come out and put a price tag on him. Then QPR need to either match it or source another player. This continuous upping the price by a few grand until we say yes is completely distracting to everyone. If Judge has no desire to go, then we also need a statement saying he is not for sale. If he is to go, i would suggest it needs to be in the region of £2 million.

If, repeat if, he wants to go, then get rid soonest and move on.ME get your arse into gear re striker, centre back, and a strong experienced central midfielder.

Well, he didn't score when he easily should have, on more than one occasion. I don't want him to go but, Huws is possibly a better player. It would also free up wages for a CB which we are sorely lacking.

The Bishop injury makes this an even harder deal to do for Town.
He's under contract and, unless theres a release cause, simply tell him he's staying!
If he wanted a move to the championship he should have put it in his contract.

Judge could literally be the difference between promotion and staying in League One for us, which would mean an extra nine million pounds for us. And we know QPR have a bit of cash to spend from the Freeman deal. Someone at the club needs to tell them to either stop taking the mickey and make an actual bid if they're serious about this, or go away.

Weird how he signed for us in the first place if he wanted to play in Championship- but I would let him go for 800k - no less.

Let him go if he wants to, true he didn't do that much last season and we have to adjust our team to suit him, rather we go get another solid CDM.

Good bit of business for the owner. Judge isn't the player he was as shown by his inconsequential performances which saw him eventually marooned out wide. He wants to go - so he will go when the owner gets his offshore cash. Now all you have to do is fantasise that Huws will be fit which would make Judge an irrelevance anyway

When is the Championship transfer deadline?

£9 million, or no deal. Simple as that. The only way we can afford to lose him is by generating enough to be able to go out there and replace. The only way we can do that is by plugging the deficit caused by relegation.

Think the comment about the player wants to go is a sweetener for the QPR fans while trying to create uncertainty in our ranks. He said he was enjoying his football with us and was getting regular games, McCarthy said his international place was not in jeopardy playing in league 1 so hard to see why he would move after signing a 2 year deal with better terms only a few months ago. Wonder if his Agent is trying to make something happen out of nothing. Hope he stays but if he wants to go it needs to happen quickly, at the right price and the money investing back into strengthening the team.

Judge is gone, I accepted this when they first bid. It will reach £750 and Evans will sell simple as that.

450k is derisory but maybe it would free up wages enough to get players needed in other positions seeing as it doesn't look like we budgeted for Bart staying.
