Elliott Loan Move on Hold
Tuesday, 30th Jul 2019 17:04

TWTD understands striker Tom Elliott’s loan move from Millwall is on hold due to the hamstring injury he suffered earlier this month in the Lions’ pre-season friendly against Concord Rangers.

The 28-year-old's recovery from the problem, reported to be a grade one strain at the time, had been expected to be further along the line at this point, so the switch has been temporarily put on hold.

Elliott was at Portman Road yesterday to undergo a medical and complete the formalities relating to his season-long switch.

TWTD revealed that the Blues were lining up a move for Elliott on Sunday, having first tried to sign him as part of a proposed renegotiation with Millwall after Bartosz Bialkowski's initial switch broke down last month.

It's likely Town will monitor progress on his injury in the weeks to come ahead of the end of the transfer window on September 2nd.

However, the Blues continue to be linked with another striking option, Blackburn's Joe Nuttall, and may well have other alternatives that they may now look to.

According to The Sun, Town could move for 22-year-old Nuttall, who is also believed to be interesting Blackpool.

Bury-born Nuttall, who is 6ft tall, started his career with Manchester City’s youth set-up before moving on to Aberdeen, during which time he had spells on loan at Stranraer and Dumbarton.

He joined Blackburn in 2017 and has made nine starts and 28 sub appearances for Tony Mowbray’s side, scoring eight goals.

Avoid. Let's get someone fit and ready to play. Not someone to join the rest in the physio's room.

So it was a swap deal where Bart leaves and we get no Millwall player in return. I hope they paid a decent loan fee, but I have my doubts.

Not sure he is good enough to risk taking with an injury. If you want a striker with a hamstring injury you may as well get Will Keane back.

You might as well get my grandma but she has got a dodgy hip.😁

I agree we should leave well alone until his injury issues have been dealt with. Probably means will be sign Nutall or maybe someone else is being lined up

If there's any doubt about him being injury prone then avoid signing him at all costs. We've had too many sick notes as it is. Go for Joe Nuttall.

So they get Bart , who they did not want because of a past injury .... we get nobody for now but may get an injury prone player at some point ! ..... Bonkers.

Sick note is a worry, we just don't need that.

We do need a bigger punchier striker though.

So tough, all this. Hope PL can pull a rabbit from a hat, he's done the incredible with Norris already to be fair. How lucky are we he's come to us!

We don't want players with known injuries. Keane last season prints to mind - missed more than he players. Move on. Concentrate on those three permanent additions PL talked about. Down to Evans do do the deals.

Hope we pursue Nuttall option as well as we need to share the workload around as it will be a long season for Norwood and Jackson if our injured strikers suffer further setbacks. Still need a Centre Back unless we are going to offer a contract to one of the trialists.

If we are serious about getting Nuttall then Evans needs to go all out to get him without messing around or we will end up with no one

Move on. We cant wait until September. We need to hit the ground running. Not wait a month to see if someone is fit enough. We cant afford to be points behind the leaders before we get our team in place. Evans get your thumb out of your butt and get some deals done man!

I do not think we should sign this player.
