Accrington Chairman Hits Out at Morsy
Saturday, 22nd Jan 2022 19:02

Accrington chairman Andy Holt has hit out at Town skipper Samy Morsy following a clash with Stanley midfielder Ethan Hamilton during the Blues’ 2-1 victory at Portman Road this afternoon.

The Egyptian international and Hamilton clashed as what was a niggly game all afternoon approached the half-hour mark with the Stanley scorer going to ground holding his face but with referee Geoff Eltringham taking no action.

Afterwards Holt responded on Twitter referring to the Town midfielder as “a shit house”, while former referee Mark Halsey suggested Morsy could face retrospective action.

Following the Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Stanley earlier in the season, Morsy was critical of the approach to the game taken by the Lancastrians.

“They’re a horrible team, they play like a non-league team, and that’s no disrespect to them, that’s just the style and it works for them and we just couldn’t quite get to grips it in the second half,” he said.

“I thought the first half was OK, they’re horrible at what they do, they didn’t really create much, as we didn’t. Two goals, we could have done a lot better but it just wasn’t our day today.”

He added: “The way they play is disgusting. I think one of the players just kicked the ball out of the stadium [in order to waste time], I’ve never seen that before in my career. But we lick our wounds and we go again.”

When you play against a load of thugs you sometimes have to do the same.

If I were Chairman of that bunch of cheating, fouling excuses for footballers I'd keep my mouth shut!

Fortunately football won today over a disgrace of a club.

Laughable- happens all the time in games. Wasn't an outright punch. Sour grapes

Quite honestly that doesn't look good on first viewing, Mohamed Ali would have been proud of that one!

Their players had purposely been winding one or two of our more hot headed players up all game and for probably the biggest side I've seen in many years they constantly feigned injury to get free kicks and players carded which I may add the ref fell for on more than a few occasions. Football won today over Neanderthal football

When you set out to cheat you have to take what you get. Accrington set out to get the opposition players into trouble. Today they appeared to have turned up for a fight not a game of football. The chairman's comments are from the same cheating mentality. He should grow up and recognise that if you play like that you have to take responsibility for the consequences. And take it.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt! Abraham Lincoln! Very relevant!

Seems ASFC like to dish it out , and for ONCE a Town player has given it back.

Hallelujah, Ipswich Town are at last mixing it with the “ tough boys” in League One.

I couldn't care less what their chairman thinks. We won, they lost.

Who? Must have been watching a different game, I had my kids with me and the Accrington approach was not in the spirit of a family entertainment. Disgrace to football, sooner they drop down and out the league the better for all concerned.

Holt wants to have a look at the incident where there lump of a centre forward tried to break Waltons leg, people in glass houses don't want to throw stones.
Accrington where a bunch of thugs and the ref let them get away with it.

Bluelodgeblue very apt and made me smile.

Strange that Holt felt it was ok to make those comments after what some of their players did, for example Bishop on walton and there guy who put his forearm through celina's neck! Horrible team, cheating bunch of non-footballers.

You can take the team out of non-league but you cant take non-league out of the team!

2-1 to the football team.

Surely, if that is a jab then their player has thrown the first "punch"! He has extended his arm full length to contact Morsy who doesn't dive and roll around but his natural arm movement follows through as his momentum is halted. The fact their team's tactics requires the player to roll around as if he has been floored is not Morsy's fault. What did their physio say when he underwent the concussion protocol? Or was it not really a jab at all?!

Putting loyalty aside, thinking for myself, and seeing what everyone on planet earth who's got a hole in their an*s can see, that was a cowardly act and a definite red card. It may even itself out over 90mins (rarely), but on this incident alone....we got away with one for sure.

Morsy makes a run; Accrington player goes to grab him; Morsy tries to shake him off, inadvertently touching his face; Accrington player goes down as if he's been shot.

Nothing in it. And Accrington behaviour absolutely in keeping with their behaviour throughout the match.

AS are a terrible team. Full of 6+ foot players with little skill and despite their size made most of any 50/50 tackles. Hope we never have to play them again

The Accrington player should have been sent off for headbutting Morsy's fist disgraceful.

Pi$$ off Holt. Your bunch of tarts fall down at the mere sight of being tackled. And as someone else said, what about the challenge on Walton? Muppet.
