Duo Named in Select XIs
Sunday, 6th Feb 2022 20:20

Blues centre-half George Edmundson has been named in the EFL Team of the Week and also in the Sky Bet League One Team of the Week alongside team-mate Conor Chaplin.

Edmundson was part of the defence which saw Town to a clean sheet in yesterday’s 1-0 home victory over Gillingham and created the winning goal for Chaplin.

Apart from the 1 price of class with his finish Chaplin had a poor game so this is strange

Shows what they really know. Great finish from Chaplin but below par all game. Edmondson in a dodgy patch of form lately Woolfie far better.

Agree with the above. Edmundson has been shaky this week and in his poorest run of form since he joined us and apart from his goal Chaplin was not anything special yesterday.
Strange selections as both have been excellent this season but certainly not this week. Looks like the people who make these selections are the same as those who select their referees

Someone on a different thread said this was all down to the Whoscored algorithm, which gives points for clean sheets, assists etc. It would indicate that a goalkeeper who made 20 world class saves but ended up losing 1-0 wouldn't make the team.

DJR. That's oÄ· for them to use that method, but why would they pick Edmondson who was poor over woolfenden and donacien, who were both better than him. Maybe it was mick Mills who picked him as he thought woolfenden, (who was clearly the best of the 3), was the worst.

Don't take much notice of this just a bit of fun. As mentioned on here Wolfenden and Donasien both had better games than Edmundson and if Chaplin hadn't have scored wouldn't have been in the team. Let's face it it was a pretty disjointed performance on Saturday and i wouldn't have picked any of them maybe Walton perhaps who looked very assured and dominated his penalty area as well as making crucial saves.

I had to laugh at this as agree with other posts regarding Edmundson who I have to say has been a fantastic signing. Maybe the captaincy is weighing heavy as his form has dipped slightly. Wolfie for me was probably mom and Donacien also solid as usual. A number of us were hoping Chaplin was going to get hooked as he was ineffective but he has excellent ball striking technique and is able to score important goals. I don't think these teams of the week mean a great deal.
