Seven December and January Games Move
Tuesday, 15th Oct 2024 16:32

Seven Town fixtures in December and January have moved due to TV coverage or other matches switching date.

The game against Crystal Palace at Portman Road remains on Tuesday 3rd December but has moved to a 7.30pm start due to being live on Amazon.

AFC Bournemouth’s first ever top flight visit to Town has switched to Sunday 8th December from the previous day and will kick-off at 2pm. The game isn’t being screened live but moves as a consequence of the Cherries’ midweek home match against Spurs being on the Thursday.

The Blues’ trip to Arsenal, previously scheduled for Boxing Day, will now be played on Friday 27th December with an 8.15pm kick-off with that game also live on Amazon.

As a result of that switch, Town’s home game against Chelsea, originally set for the Sunday, will now be played on Monday 30th December at 7.45pm. That match is not being screened live by any broadcaster.

The visit to Fulham, previously scheduled for Saturday 4th January, will now be played on Sunday 5th January with a 2pm kick-off and will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Brighton’s visit to Portman Road, initially set for Tuesday 14th January, has moved to the Thursday of that week with a 7.30pm kick-off and will be shown live by TNT Sports.

And the Manchester City match the following weekend will now be played on Sunday 19th January with a 4.30pm start and will be live on Sky Sports.

Its pointless bringing out a fixture list at the start of a season !!!

It's stories like these that make me really dislike where we find ourselves. I loved the journey.....that's where the excitement ended.

Football Will Eat Itself. The boom times will end eventually.

Getting home from Arsenal after an 8.15 KO doesn't like lots of fun but perhaps better for us than a 12 KO on Boxing Day - but we knew this was coming and I don't think we can complain too much- at least they have given us a good time to plan
Yesjohn - Correct the situation in the EFL is shambolic with load of games no one really wants to watch Kicking off at 12.30. For those 2 fingers given to the watching public that sky and the EFL chairman who agreed to this nonsense have shown there should be no forgiveness - Relegation really will be a Sh1t sandwich.

The game now exists to put on as many games onto TV as possible around the world to maximise income, and I fear it will only get worse as the Premier League becomes more global. The travel/life/family plans of supporters going to the stadiums no longer matters to the game at the top level. The important thing is that people buy the Sky, TNT and Amazon subscriptions at premium prices, and watch the ever-increasing advertising flashing into our faces during the matches.

You do wonder what the point of actually releasing a fixture list at the start of the season is these days. The best it does is tell us that we will play teams around a certain date, possibly!

I love it when we're on TV, shows how far we've come - last season we were all* celebrating the amount of time we were picked up for TV, now there's a lot of moaning because the Prem has the ability to spread fixtures out for TV money. Money which we've reinvested into the team and stadium to make us capable of challenging for the best football in the world. Price of success? Yeah, I'm ok with that.

*clearly not everyone liked it

Agree with EIE etc and Mark. Sky have no interest in true supporters following their Teams but just want to entice the armchair brigade to their ranks.

The consequence being that the only winners are players and agents who exist in a over inflated bubble. Clubs pay silly money for very average players and Agents hold Clubs to ransom.

I wonder our great players from yesteryear would fetch in the marketplace today.

Absolutely ridiculous and underlines my dislike of the money making machine the Premier League is REALLY all about. Fans count for nothing, and are ripped off at every opportunity for the benefit of a do called elite few in the game.
F u c k off Sky

Well at least I now don't have the dilemma of going to see town v Brighton on the 14th of Jan as its the Mrs birthday!
I would have brought a programme and a scarf back for her anyway....not a silly half and half one either!

This is ridiculous. Great to be in the top flight but I am already missing the regular 3pm Saturday kick-offs. Football will destroy itself in the end.

I may have missed something. Is Town TV not able to show any matches such as the Chelsea and Bournmouth games which will both be sell-outs?

ArnieM added 19:39 - Oct 15
Nope, I think Sky has a say in it... so Town tv is largely useless now for showing Town games. I could be wrong but don't think they've shown one have they?

Its good for the lower leagues. For example, I might go and watch Crewe Alex on Saturday afternoon. Rather pay to watch the Ipswich match but no chance of a ticket. I have been to every away game so far as a 'neutral' !

Obviously someone could have my money to watch my own club, but no one seems to want it. Must be a missed opportunity.

I want to pay £30 to watch this game on TV as I cant get a ticket, Here's my money...... No thanks, keep it, we dont want it. Go and watch another team.

VanDusen added 20:17 - Oct 15
@eeyore. You can watch the game for a lot less than £30. You just need a VPN.

VanDusen added 20:18 - Oct 15
But point taken - it's ridiculous when demand is so high that it can't be met...

As a season ticket holder who has to work Saturday's, this has done me a favour. Several games I would have missed are now on Sundays. I know this doesn't suit everyone.

I tried the VPN nonsense. Too much hassle and usually doesnt work. Thats not the solution I am after. Happy to pay my money to the club if they can find a way to take it.
