Davis Signs New Deal Monday, 21st Oct 2024 17:01 Town left-back Leif Davis has signed a new contract which runs to the summer of 2028.
TWTD understands talks with the 24-year-old have been ongoing since before Christmas with his current terms up next summer, although with the club having an option for an additional year.
Davis, who joined Town from Leeds for around £1 million plus a further £500,000 in top-ups in the summer of 2022, has been a key man in the side which won back-to-back promotions to take the Blues back into the Premier League.
“I am really pleased to have signed a new contract,” Davis said. “I have loved my time at the club so far and have improved so much during my two seasons here working with this group of players and under a manager who has done so much for me. This feels like home now and I am excited to continue the journey.”
Manager Kieran McKenna added: “We are all delighted that Leif has committed his future to the club.
“Leif has made huge strides over the last two-and-a-half seasons and has developed well, both as a player and as a young man.
“He has been an important part of the successes of the last two seasons and now has the opportunity to play regularly in the Premier League for the first time in his career.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to work with him for an extended period and are confident he will continue to work hard to improve and develop in all areas.”
Newcastle-born Davis, who was strongly interesting Nottingham Forest during the January transfer window, has made 97 starts and one sub appearance for the Blues, scoring five times.
Davis is strongly tipped to become Town's first full England international since Richard Wright in June 2000.

Still the best player at the club, in my opinion.

Great news as the manager said "he's come on leaps and bounds" and does not look out of place in the premiership as for England it's just a matter of time.

Some much needed good news. Hopefully Jack and Kalvin can kick on here and the friendship they have benefits all three of them.

If he can re capture last years form that would be helpful and there are signs of that----Morsy still our best player by far in my humble opinion----does not seem to be fazesd at all

Excellent news! Might get shot for saying this but hopefully this locks in a key player for the next 4+ years but equally, in a worst case scenario, it definitely adds a significant number of pound notes to a possible transfer fee should we not stay in the Prem, as there would be teams queueing up to buy him. Previously I'd have said it was madness but given the fees these days, I think if someone decent (or his hometown Newcastle) offered £45m for him if we went down, I don't see ITFC standing in the way of that. A win-win for the player and the club. Great bit of news.

While most have struggled in the Premier league Davis and Morsy have adapted well and have worn the shirt with pride along with Delap who always gives his best along with his undoubted ability.
