Former Blue Jackson Joins Hometown Club
Friday, 30th Jan 2026 19:20

Former Blues attacker Kayden Jackson has joined hometown club Bradford City from Derby County, signing a two-and-a-half year deal with the League One side.

The 31-year-old was a member of the back-to-back promotion squad with Town before being released in the summer of 2024 when he penned a two-year contract with the Rams which was up this summer.

“I am delighted for various reasons,” Jackson told the Bantams official website. “It feels like it has been a long time coming. To never have had the opportunity to play here, to have played so many games and not come home as such, it is a nice feeling and is emotional.

“You just have to look at the success the club has had over the last six months. I have spoken to the manager and others at the club.

“We have been crying out for this type of success, and this is the right time for me to come on board and help the team.”

Bradford boss Graham Alexander, whose team are currently fifth in the table, added: “We are delighted to bring Kayden in and back to his roots.

“He has great pace, athleticism and versatility across the frontline. We feel he will add another dimension to our game and he is another player who has been part of great success in the last few years at a higher level.”

I always liked Kayden and felt sorry for him when the boo boys targeted him at times. He always gave 100% commitment and effort. Good luck Kayden, I hope you have a great spell at Bradford and score a few goals.

Decent guy, well liked, played a part in promotion but was never going to take us forward.
24 goals in 172 appearances was never going to sit well with fans.
Don't suppose 3 in 65 at Derby was ever going to get him a new contract either.
Hopefully more success at Bradford though & best of luck to him.

Another player we failed to get the best out of because the fans didnt take to him. I always found his effort and work rate 1st class, but when people on here and social media get their teeth into someone, it rarely works out well.
nice lad, good luck KJ

Good move. Bradford City is the nearest team to where I currently live, developing a soft spot for them! Best of luck

Really pleased for Kayden. For all the knockers, I bet Keiran would kill for another Kayden right now with his attitude, positivity and pace to deploy as he saw fit....right across the pitch! I have wondered if he had been coached by a Keiran earlier in his carer if he would have made Premier League standard as he seemed to be so coachable and improved so much with us, but could not keep up with the speed of the Clubs improvement...who could other than Wes and Leif it seems ! Well done again, thanks for the memories, and enjoy playing for your hometown Club.

There's one abiding memory I have of KJ, it might seem a strange one, but I think it tells you a lot about the guy and for that matter, the attitude of anyone who does something similar. It was the promotion confirmed game at home to Huddersfield on the last day of the season. Very close to the end of the game, we're cruising to an easy victory. He's wide right in the middle of Huddersfield's half and our attack breaks down. He sprints back as fast as he possibly can to help out defensively. That's just the sort of commitment I love to see from players. Best of luck for the future KJ.
