Hull Source Confirms Town Bullard Approach
Monday, 24th Jan 2011 17:52

A Hull City source has confirmed that Town have approached the Tigers regarding a loan move for midfielder Jimmy Bullard, according to reports in East Yorkshire.

The Hull Daily Mail reports that the source has confirmed the approach but says talks are yet to take place regarding the proposed switch.

News that Blues boss Paul Jewell was making a move for the 32-year-old, who played for him at Wigan, broke earlier this afternoon.

This story actually concerns me; he is earning £50,000 a week. How much of that are we going to have to pay? Any more than half and it seems pointless.

Would much Prefer Colin Healy in the Midfield than him:

Colin has put in some good minutes this season -

Is it a good idea?
Is it the future?
It's great to do the Old Pals Act (Kennedy etc) Shows camaraderie. But at what cost?
Is there a magic thing that he can bring? That fits so well with existing players?
A catalyst?

Not sure. Injury prone and on lots of money BUT a quality player. Loan move may be way forward - yet probably 90% of people on here moaned about loan deals during the previous regime. Think we need to be looking at permanent deals. Loan ones can be done after the window closes.

This one is all about money, as if Hull want us to pay silly money towards his wages then forget it. He is a quality player (England squad three years ago, cost £5M two years ago) who Jewell knows well though, so if a sensible loan deal can be done with the possibility of signing him permanently in the summer then it may be a good thing.

Jesus People! He is an awesome Champ player, probs still good enough for the Prem when fit, and its a loan so it cant go wrong! We wont be paying all his high wages, if injured we can send him back and if not injured we get a brill player who may take a wage cut and join next year if he has enough fun! Id like to think hes more of a 3rd option rather than replacement but that might be optimistic

barmyarmy13, hollywoodginge: both of you spot on!

The guy is a legend for that moment in his career if nothing else! Might be just the sort of thing we need: bit of quality, bit of a clown, might just lift the players etc. Won't come cheap but I doubt Pascal C would have. An experienced player like him would probably help in teaching some of the younger players the tricks of the trade!

Recall comments a couple of weeks ago about us having a very quiet dressing room and Roy always banging on about a lack of character. Who better than this fool, and he is a pretty damn good midfielder. He will bring some team spirit and get the team talking. A massive part of football is communication. Something that we are sorely lacking. Please sign him up!!!

With the talk of both Norrish and Leadbitter on the move before the end of the month it seems to me that PJ is working hard to get in replacements.

Personally I would be happy to lose both Norris and Leadbitter and put Bullard in the middle with Healey or even Drury from Luton who is a very good player

Could be a very interesting 7 days ahead.

Nice to have a midfielder who unpick a defence

Potentially a great aquisition but as others have mentioned his fitness and wages might be an issue. May be worth it on a 4 month loan though

Will always be injury prone now - no thanks not worth upsetting the apple cart over.

If he can recapture his best form, he would be a cut above any of our current midfielders - if rumours about his wages are true though, that might prove a bit tricky.

But as a few people have mentioned, as well as what he offers on the pitch, he'd probably bring even more feelgood factor back to the squad!
